Vietnam: Creating you own job in Vietnam:
One of the easiest ways to have an income source in Vietnam is to build a business in association with other expats. This will also offer an opportunity to connect with and build a social network
Of friends and other English speakers. Living in Vietnam can be a great experience. Our money whether derived from employment or retirement benefits will go a long way here in Vietnam. Vietnam's current per capita is between $2,000.00 and $3,000.00 and probably more toward the lower end of that scale. Many expats get around $3,000.00/mo or more in retirement pay and I would venture to say many if not most could buy a house cash here in Vietnam. Many are not aware that in reality we could earn more money while living in Vietnam than we could in our own respective native countries. It just depends on how entrepreneurial we choose to be. You might be surprised to find out how many Vietnamese millionaires and billionaires there are here in Vietnam. If we organize and pool our resources together I could almost guarantee we could become millionaires
Vietnam: Australian wishing to move to Vietnam want to talk/meet western expats in Vietnam:
I do not know about bars but recently I saw a small hotel for sale in district 1 for sale generating $6,000.00 per month with a restaurant and bar. Asking price was $75,000.00 USD but I have not verified it. That was the lowest asking price I have seen. With the new law in place now you should not have a problem gaining ownership but I do not know about any pertenant information specific to owning and operating a bar. My thing is real estate development. There is a property for sale now in Ho Chi Minh zoned for apartments and town houses. 1600 Square meters for $180,000.00 USD.The zoning allows for about 1500 units with a current market price of about $1,000.00 USD per square meter and as much as $1,200.00:USD per square meter. We would have to become a licensed building contractor as only licensed contractor are allowed to construct buildings. In any case there is a chance to double our money even with buildings outside the major metropolitan areas. I have plans for one such project on a piece of land I now have right next to where the government has started building a hospital and where property values are starting to skyrocket but still very affordable compared to Ho Chi Minh City. All I care about is a real chance to double our money. Anyway, happy to connect with you and make friends or just brain storm. I am proposing expats get together and pool our resources to increase our economic condition and strength.
Vietnam: Any Suggestion on Trasnferring Money from Vietnam to Phillipines:
You can do a bank transfer or money gram. Alternatively you can hope on an airplane but i guess you have thought of that. Do you a trusted friend planning to take a trip anytime soon? You can also set up a bank account and have am ATM card sent which you can use to withdraw money from an ATM machine at a cost of about 1%.
Vietnam: Hanoi:
I lived all around Vietnam from 1994 thru 1998. Although it seems chaotic to the eye driving the small motor scooters here can actually be quite same and fun. You just have to adjust to the rythum of the traffic. For the most part traffic in Vietnam moves at very moderate speeds unlike the traffic in the USA where everyone is a race driver. You just have to stay on your toes because every inch of space is used here and that can include sidewalks where there is sidewalk that is. They have introduced traffic laws here but mostly unenforced so it's up to drivers whether they cooperate or not, mostly there is always one or two drivers you will encounter on a daily basis that think they do not need any stinking traffic laws. Choosing to do your own car driving will prove more challenging than driving a motor scooter because the roads here are not just for vehicles but for bicycles, pedestrians and animals as well. Controlling traffic in Vietnam in like trying to control the flight of individual bees in a swarm of bees yet again it's all in adapting to the flow and getting down the timing. in all the years I spent living and traveling throughout Vietnam I have yet to see a consistent enforcement of traffic law. I would agree that for year round moderate weather Da Lat is your best bet but there really is no place in Vietnam without humidity or warm days are 37 C. However lots of cheap hotels to hop around to during those uncomfortable days. That's what I did in my younger years.
Vietnam: Moving to My Tho, Vietnam:
No, what you have heard or read is either outright wrong or outdated. Income taxes is nowhere near 50%. It's more in line with Western countries now and based on a graduated basis. Probably you will not go over 30%. You are married to a Vietnamese citizen, that is if you wife has not changed her citizenship. If that is the case you will be lucky and have the right to both live in Vietnam and own properties the same as regular citizens. The laws have changed so you might do some research in that area. I am a US citizen married to a Vietnamese girl and citizen of Vietnam. We just bought a house and working on setting up a business. We will be your neighbors if you locate in My Tho. I will be down the street about an hour's drive in Go Cong, Turn Giang. Feel free to contact me.
