Costa Rica: United PetSafe program:
You might try DELTA! They are great with shipping dogs. If you need a broker however I can recommend debbie@AllPetTravel.com
Costa Rica: HELP!!! Itchy bites!:
Try a product called AFTER BITE. I'm not sure you can find it in CR, but I get it at Walgreens here in the States and it works wonders (I think!) I plan on bringing several (lots) down with me when I come in March!!! If you know of someone here in the States that are coming down to visit, ask them to buy you some!
Nicaragua: Medical Insurance costs in Nicaragua:
Can anyone tell me HONESTLY what kind of medical insurance is available to expats (not from Florida) who are over 65? I have read that Medicare cannot be used out of the U.S. regardless of what some of the posts state. How expensive it insurance normally for full coverage ? Naturally this would depend on the deductible one would have, but an educated guess would help. Can you chose your own Dr. and health facility?
And while we are on the subject of insurance any information on auto and home insurance would be helpful as well.
Thank you
Nicaragua: Retiring in Nicaragua from the U.S.:
What is the process for making a move to Nicaragua? How to go about the paperwork need to enter the country and is it necessary to become a 'resident'? Is it possible to get a Retired Persons Temporary Resident Visa which will let you go in and out of the country for a specific period of years,, i.e 3 yrs.
If becoming a 'resident' does that negate my citizenship in the U.S.? Is it necessary to go back to the States for a specific period of time, so as not to lose the residency status there? Please, ANY HELP with this subject and any other information which would be helpful to me would be mighty appreciated...this is something I've been considering, but wonder if it's too much to be able to handle to make it worthwhile. Need to know about medical facilities and healthcare ...is it readily available and is it good? Drs. and DDS..for example as well as good hospitals.
Thanks to all who can and will help me!!!!
South Africa: shipping cars to south africa:
I'm sorry to tell you this, but you aren't allowed to ship autos to S.A. At one time this had been possible and I can't remember the year they stopped. Remember you will be driving on the opposite side of the road and sitting on the opposite side in the car than you are used to doing here in the states...can you just imagine how more confusing that would be driving the car you have now?!! So the answer to your question is a NO.
South Africa: live in africa:
You would need to apply for a work permit while living in the States, before going over there. Chances are from what I understand you would only be able to find a job if there weren't any other people who live there (natives) that are qualified. I don't know where the town you mention is located, but if it's close to Joburg I'd be cautious. I think the cost of living is less in S.A. than in the States.
South Africa: lost info from a posting:
I had received some helpful info for my move to S.Africa by a lady named Diane. there was a 'thread' she suggested looking at and reading the info there...now I cannot find it. I believe in that 'thread' there was mention of the type of estimate to get from the shippers which was a BINDING estimate and they couldn't charge you more than this estimate, but it could be less. Do you know of anything like this? Or how I can retrieve 'Diane's' information she wrote.
South Africa: Moving to South Africa:
Does anyone know of a good international mover/shipper. I will be moving from Arizona, USA to Phalaborwa, South Africa. I would appreciate any recommendations for a reliable company to help me with this move.
Thanks!
