United Arab Emirates: on the island or off??:
Have lived in AD in 2008 for 6 months in Khalidyah area. The apartment was very nice and we had a great deal from the company my hubby was working for. Now, he accepted a new position back in AD again. I am wondering if there is any changes, since last financial downfall. Can anyone advise me on what's current housing market worth? Am thinking of 3br apartment or villa.
And, I record there were few new schools up and running then. My daughter is 3.5yrs old. I am thinking of sending her to British system (We are from OZ). How much I should be looking at for the fees? THX!

United Arab Emirates: Chinese in Abu Dhabi?:
Hi, I am a Taiwanese who lived in AD for 6 months last year. There are around 30 Taiwanese in AD (more in Dubai as I was told). You can get your wife to register with Taiwan trade office in Dubai, then she would receive any gathering event via email, and the AD rep. will contact her regularly for any activities. We are a small community, and are very close and helpful to each other. Your wife should have no problem to fit in. We often have morning tea at the malls, or gather at one of our home from time to time.
I know there were many Chinese as well (especially in our building. They seem to be male who on contract with Etisalad).
Best of luck with your settling in AD.
United Arab Emirates: Cost of living in Dubai:
Hi, all,
I guess this question has been asked few times, but I couldn't find enough info on it.
If there is anyone who can share some info wz me about the rentals for a 3-4 bedrooms apartment and car. Which area is good to live in for young family wz toddler. How much is the kindy or nanny? Is AED 132,000 sounds ok for accommodation, air-tickets (Dubai - Melbourne for family of 3) and transportation in Dubai for a year?
My husband currently is working in Q8, and about to take up a job in Dubai. Me and my 1 year old daughter are staying back in Melbourne, and are so looking forward to join him in dubai.
Look forward to any input. Thanks!
