Belize: Planning our future in Belize:

My wife and I have been talking for quite a while about moving to Belize when we retire in a few years. We are open to other locations, but have pretty much settled on Belize at this point. We are going to spend a month there for our anniversary. Plan on paying cash for a house then living off of my military retirement and whatever is left after we buy a house, plus selling our house I the US and whatever else we unload. Currently living in UT. Not asking for any advice or anything at this point, just popping in. I guess I do have a question. Any good Facebook pages on Belize? I've done a search and didn't come up with much. Also, there is a Belize podcast but the latest podcast was from 2014. Any current ones people know about? As I'm writing this I'm thinking of questions but I will save them for later. Thanks.

Panama: "Young" Retiree:

Hello everyone, glad I found you. I know these type questions come up often I'm sure, but please bare with me. I'm 45 now (wife 43) looking to move permanently when I'm 50. Besides meager savings, our main source of income would be my military retirement which is about $2,100 gross. Based on your experience, how safe and comfortable is that? Would we need part-time work? I'm not against that. We have been contemplating "where" for a few years and have 90% settled on Panama. Because of that we haven't done a ton a research on any one country. We have come to Panama (90%) based on article, accounts from this forum and a few other places. Thanks.
