Portugal: Dual Residency:

Is it possible to keep my home country (USA) as primary residency,; yet continue to live in Portugal as a resident while continuing to file and pay taxes in the US? Then apply for the NHR in order to not pay taxes in Portugal on my US income. Does that even make sense?

Portugal: Dual Residency:

Is it possible to have residency in Portugal yet keep your home country (USA) as your primary residence in which you continue to pay taxes? Then apply for NHR so I don't have to pay taxes on US income?

Portugal: Vilamoura:

Is there anyone currently living in the Vilamoura area?

Portugal: Changing location of entry:

On my application for Residency, I listed Lisbon as my entry and place to find an apartment (for address) Question: Can I fly to Faro, or somewhere else and submit paper work to SEF or will I need to travel back and forth to Lisbon? And/or must I fly into Lisbon as my application states? Hope this makes sense. Thanks everyone for your help

Portugal: Typeology:

I've seen types of apartments, condos, etc. for rent in Portugal listed with T0, T1, T3, T5, etc. What exactly does this tell me about the unit?

Portugal: Insurance for application. HELP!!!:

I just purchased the required insurance from HTH Worldwide. Call the 800 number on the website and customer service will help you get what you need. Although it needs to be for 180 days. I selected the "Travel Gap Excursion I found it expensive, mainly for my age but had to do it or not go. I'm told that after arriving in Portugal and getting your "number" you can purchase insurance locally that is less expensive. Hope this helps. It was also my last item to complete my application package.

Portugal: Proof of Insurane:

Upon arriving in Portugal, will I find that acquiring health insurance from within the country less expensive than what I'm finding online from the United States? I'm finding quotes from around $800-$2,000 per month; probably due to my age. I can bring down the monthly cost to around $300 with a high deductible. ($10,000.00) I have most of my documents ready to submit with my application except for the proof of insurance.................sigh... Thanks for you input and advice. I'm really eager to experience Portugal! Priscilla

Portugal: Confused:

The more I read, the more confused I become. Just when I think I understand, I read something that lets me know I don't. Is there a site, that shows each step for a US citizen to become a temporary resident? Also, I will only have SS and pension as income. Will rent and not work.............do I pay taxes on this income and/or do I apply for non habitual residency? I plan to live there 10 months out of the year. Can anyone help me out please? Thanks so much
