Italy: ER Visa Denial Resolutions:
Hello Magruder, I am in midst of close to 2 year application, reapply and appeal process for Italian RV and have learned a great deal. I received excellent advice and considerate counsel from several members of this forum. However decided best course is to post my experiences and learnings after final resolution, either way. Please email me at pablock007 [at] gmail [dot] com if you would like to chat offline. Thanks.
Italy: US Italian Consulate:
Ok, thanks Bogart2.
Italy: does "reply" to posts work?:
Hello, i have tried to post reply to katabiel 2x (see below, post under "Retiring" topic) and see nothing on web page. I'm a newbie, first visit to this excellent forum!! Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks!

Dear katabiel, congrats on finally securing elective residency visas for both of you!! i am experiencing similar problems with NYC italian consulate. They rejected my application last year without cause (said it was lack of finances, assure you that is not the case.) i hired italian attorney and we won 2 judgments by court in Rome. however, i still need to officially apply a third time, appt is mid-May. Wish me luck! It may be a great help for me to speak with you for just a few minutes to learn more about how you made it work by moving to TX. Please advise if you are open to that, thanks! About your registering for Italian Health Care insurance, here's how it worked for me, quite easily, maybe because i am younger than both of you. My real estate agent in Tuscany referred me to a local insurance agent. Before even moving to Italy for my first 90 day stay last April 2015, I asked the insurance agent to email me the application. She works with insurer, Cattolica ASSICURAZIONE. I had the Italian form translated to English, filled it out, signed and returned it. After receiving approval (only took 2 weeks), I paid 6 mo of annual premium. Approx 1 month later, received insurance id card. Because i do not (yet) have my residency visa, this coverage may be a different type than you are thinking of. However, given that you both have ER visas, getting some type of coverage should not be an issue. Ask the agent who sold you your property if s/he can help. Good luck!!

Italy: ER Visa application - do I need to state my current employer if leaving in several weeks?:
Hello to 1OpenMike and OldPro, congrats to 1OpenMike about securing your Residency Visa!! You are very fortunate that you dealt with Italian Consulate location that seemingly treats virtually all applicants both fairly and kindly Not so for many other US Italian Consulates. I did reach out on this forum many months ago for help and I received amazingly supportive replies in a number of posts. I have been radio silent because I am still in the midst of trying to secure my RV......after 18 months! This is a very frustrating and challenging experience. I commit to posting all of my learnings at the end of this long fought and expensive legal and bureaucratic debacle. Thanks again to everyone for your help and support, especially JacksterJam. Ciao for now
Italy: Required income for retiring to Italy:
Vanderven1, I agree with JacksterJam and advise you to push back on monthly income requirement. The unfortunate reality, based on my own experiences with NYC Italian Consulate, is that the Italian Consulates in USA do not operate under same "rule of law" as recognized or mandated by TAR Lazio court in Rome. My Italian attorney in Rome says that, under Italian law, there is no monthly or annual income requirement for US expats seeking a residency visa. This is obviously at odds with respect to how each and every General Consulate of Italy [USA MAJOR METROPOLITAN CITY] operate. Not sure what else to advise as I am experiencing a version of what you are. If you want to know more, I am happy to discuss offline. Good luck!
