Colombia: Can you drink the water in Colombia:
The water in Manizales is the best I have experienced anywhere in the world.
It only gets a bit murky if the rust in the iron pipes gates shaken up by and earthquake or major plumbing works,.
Colombia: Bus Luggage Limitations?:
Yes, you probably will have trouble. The luggage space at the back of local busses is very limited.
If you are lucky to find a bus which is not full, the driver will probably let you bring some items inside.
If you can find a 40-seater coach that is stopping at Armenia on the way to Bogota or elsewhere, they have masses of under-floor baggage space.
Colombia: Taking a car to medellin:
Basically only diplomats can import a car into Colombia, unless it is a 'classic' and over 30 years old.
There are stiff import duties (30%+) on cars which make them more expensive than in some other countries.
Colombia: Arriving Armenia Late April-Logistics:
Elexpatriado:
That price was admittedly 3 years ago but the owner had not raised it for 5 years.
It was on the Avenida Santander in Alto Palermo (Viscaya), as good as it gets. I saw several others at similar prices while looking.
Colombia: Link To Climate Comparison:
If you look up any Colombian city in Wikipedia, you will generally get a monthly temperature and rainfall table.
You generally get more information in the Spanish version.
Colombia: Cali Expats, I need your help!:
Connectivity is (as anywhere in the world) only a problem if you choose to live a long way from the towns.
Most place have a good choice of ISP and if you pay enough you can get fast internet.
There is also good coverage of 4G if you want wireless connections.
Colombia: Muchas Cucarachas?:
Since most bath and service rooms are built without windows, there is always the chance of the odd cockroach getting in but I have never been troubled by them.
Obviously the higher and thus cooler you are, the less you will see.
Colombia: Mail/Package service in Pereira? Armenia?:
Since there is no national postal service in Colombia, the major international carriers (DHL, FedEx, Deprisa) have offices in most towns and cities. The final delivery is by van or motorcycle to your door.
Colombia: Hitron Cable Modem:
My UNE modem was patched by them so that it does not respond to any of the normal logins.
If you need any changes you will have to call them out.
