Norway: mortgage in norway:

Hi My wife is Norwegian and live in Oslo while I live and work in San Francisco. Long distance for sure, but it works for us for now. We would like to purchase a home in Norway and we can pay 20% down but will need a mortgage. Does anyone have any experience with international mortgages or with getting a Norwegian mortgage where the wages are earned outside of Norwary? I do have a D num in Norway but have not yet opened accounts there. Initial talks with Norwegian banks look grim but I am not giving up. Thanks for any insights -guy
