About TonyCinFLL

Hi Everyone. I'm a newbie in the Forum but not new to the Philippines. I was born and raised in the Lower East Side of New York City and my parents are both from Puerto Rico. I retired after working the required 20 years of service for the NYC Police Department back in April of 2011. When I retired I decided to move to Sunny South Florida for the hot weather, beaches and beautiful relaxed atmosphere. It was a joy getting away from the Concrete Jungle of NYC. I've traveled to the Philippines many times and at each visit I continue to love it more and more. Im hoping on my next visit which will hopefully be in February 2017 I will be visiting Davao City for the first time. Should be staying there for at least 3 Months.  So any tips, suggestions, advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Philippines: Tourist visa extensions:

Ok so I am new to all this about Tourist Visas. I remember going to the Philippines and being able to stay for 21 days then I had to leave and come back for another 21 days. Now I hear they have extended the 21 days to 30 days which I think is better. So just to get a clearer picture from what I am reading. Are you guys saying you dont have to leave after the 30 days and you can extend your stay? And if so How do you go about doing this? Im trying to find out because I would like to stay there for at least 4 to 5 months but I dont want to have to leave every 30 days.

Philippines: Confused about Moving to the Philippines:

Hi Everyone Im hoping by posting this it will help me make a better decision on my quest to Move to the Philippines. I have read some similar topics to this one on this Forum before but it seems people start changing the subject and the answers become diluted with off subject conversations. So here is my attempt and let's see how this one goes. I am a retired NYPD Detective so I pretty much receive a nice pension every month. Im single with no kids and have no interest in making a family. I enjoy my freedom and enjoy spending the money I receive on traveling and enjoying life. Most of all I enjoy my freedom. I have been to the Philippines a few times already and absolutely fell in love with the places that I have been to, the people I have met, and the food is amazing. Being born and raised in NYC with a Puerto Rican heritage I grew up speaking spanish at home so I was able to pick up on some Tagalog words here and there. So there is a little of my background. Now I know I would not like to live in Manila because of the crowds, pollution, crime, etc ... I have been to Cebu back in 2001 and did like it a bit. Also got a chance to do a quick visit to Bohol. I visited Bagio and to me seemed to be overcrowded and the cold weather Im not to keen about . I've been told despite what some are saying on this feed, that Davao City is a safe place to live and has been rated one of the safest places to live in the Philippines. I've never been to Davao but I am planning my first trip there in February 2017. Im hoping to stay there for a few months so I can see and get a feel for myself. Now I have noticed on YouTube of a few people vlogging from Dumaguete so now I'm a bit confused. If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it. Thanks and please try and stay on the Topic. LOL.

Philippines: Health insurance:

Im not sure about insurance but I happen to be a Mosquito magnet. When I travel to the Philippines I usually buy some garlic oil pills. It solves the Mosquito problem for me and you won't smell like bug spray.

Philippines: 45 Day stay in Naga City:

Wow that is an amazing site. I had no idea such a thing existed. Thanks for Sharing

Philippines: Beware of this:

It's not just the Philippines. This is a problem in many countries. As a retired NYPD detective I've seen my share of crime in New York City and abroad. Criminals are everywhere. No matter where you go you must always be aware of your surroundings. Let's not paint one country with the same brush. I've traveled to many places and have never seen a country that has displayed as much hospitality, kindness and warmth as the Philippines.
