Nicaragua: Which C.A. country is best to live in?:

I agree with you completely and have been reading your latest posts with much interest. Thank you for writing as you have. it is a pleasure to see such varied interests. People in the US have always made fun of my "classical: and art interests if i ventured out of Academia or the art world! Not comfortable with someone who lived so many years abroad. Then at an old age, I was blessed and met my husband who is adventurous enough to agree we should move out of the states when he retires. We have fallen in love with the beaches in Nicaragua, but two concerns:1) what happens let's say 10 years from now to stability 2) health care, that though we are healthy now, the what if factor makes CR more attractive. I had lived 24 years in Italy so am used to a slower pace and won't have a problem. But am intrigues at your knowing when to leave a place. Spain is wonderful as is Portugal. thank you again for your writing to us all.

Nicaragua: How's the night life in Managua??:

It was open in july when i was in Managua to see my dentist...We were really surprised . it is near La Colonia near the Santo Domingo Mall.

Nicaragua: CAR RENTAL:

We have done both and my husband was a wreck after driving in Managua. The rest was not very much of a problem, but he was still nervous. We now have a wonderful driver in Managua when i go for my dental work and it is so much better. i was back in October on my own and it was a pleasure to have him drive us, plus the fact he is at university and speaks excellent English. Going around the country, you have more options to see the sites etc, and stop on your own if you have a car rented. But I still thick a combination is a good idea. On another note, i certainly enjoy reading well-written english as i coach ESL to business executives around the world and have had to do a mini course for them in American popular expressions etc. We all make typos! have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Nicaragua: Importing Personal Belongings:

Hello Everyone, I have a question regarding importation of personal goods once a resident and it is if one is married does the $20,000 or $30,000 allowed pertain to each individual or to the couple as a unit? Thank you most kindly feliceb

Nicaragua: let's not spoil Nicaragua:

It would be nice if you put that in english for all of us Americans:) Thank you since it is a bit different than your apology in english

Nicaragua: Cold Canadian looking for beach rental:

I forwarded your post to a friend of mine who has a nice house and also know a certain beach area very well. if you get an email from Mercedes- that's her

Nicaragua: Ortega Sworn in for the Third Time:

I agree with Key West Pirate and hopefully any problems will not affect the ex-pat community already in place and those of us planning to be there. I think it bests not to voice too many opinions. Italy in the 70s was another thing and as a university student one could be vocal even as an ex-pat! this is different. Let's hope nothing changes except for the better and better as some members have optimistically voiced.

Nicaragua: Best Area to Move:

they coastal pacific weather is similar in both. SJDS is more developed, but Popoyo will catch up very quickly now that there is the airport and all the development around Tola

Nicaragua: checking out nicaragua:

san juan del sur is undoubtedly the most lively town on the coast for ex-pats if you are seeking lots of activity! It is like tamarind 15 years ago and perhaps better. You can find whatever level of living quarters and shopping you will need- restaurants and clubs and they never stop!
