Italy: Rental Agreement For ER Visa:

Thank you. rsetzer99, for your sensible comments. Considering that generally posters are retirees, one would think/hope for a more mature approach to posting on the forum. Woohooing back and forth most certainly is not mature, rather childish. Neither is capitalizing to make one's point. No need for it especially since, more than anything, it seems to expose the poster as being angry and impatient.

France: Tip Not in the Guidebooks:

MBS : Thank you for your lighthearted and useful observations from which everyone can take away whatever they like, need, enjoy; some may not at all (take away anything), and that's o.k. too! And some may not agree with everything, and that's just as o.k.! No need to tear it apart. I find OldPro very stuck in his ways. Provides some useful information at times, but seems inflexible, very set in his ways and seems to think that everyone else should follow his doctrine. Unfortunately, it often comes across as lecturing, patronizing and condescending. Not a good thing in a forum like this one that provides help, information, food for thought.

Italy: Water filter/purification system:

Wondering if anyone can recommend a water purification/ filter system. Had the best before moving to Italy and it was NOT expensive, nothing like some that cost several thousand $. It was very simple, hooked onto the faucet and delivered the best tasting, purest and cleanest water. Don't like Brita and am resentfully using bottled water, not to mention having to carry a lot of weight! Thanks!

Italy: Bank recommendations:

Banking questions/issues have been topics in the past but I am under a bit of pressure and don't have much time to search the forum, so would like to ask : need to open a bank account and would be grateful for recommendations. It would only be to pay rent etc. as I still have my home account abroad (I'm a EU citizen if that makes any difference in opening an account). Also, I've been trying to find ATMs that disperse cash, the ones that have the PLUS sign. Have talked to banks, looked at ATMs, nothing. Normally there's a label on the ATM that has the PLUS sign, Visa, MC etc. I've withdrawn in Italy and other European countries in the past, so am a bit confused. Thank you.

France: Verona:

Hi, if anyone knows of an English expat/contact group in Verona, would appreciate to get info/ details. Thank you in advance.

France: Expats in Dinan:

Lekitanin: Stevenstruck likely has thought about as to why he wants to connect with expats before moving. It's his prerogative, nothing questionable or unusual about it. Since there is nothing questionable about it, they don't owe anyone an explanation.

Italy: Healthcare eligibility for non-Italian EU citizens:

I would like to revive this topic which I posted on July 18 under the wrong title/heading. Would much appreciate first hand and specific information from non-Italian EU citizens. Also, if you feel the need for, or would recommend, private health insurance. The last question is based on if that would be good idea to have on top of the public health care system. Many thanks! 7/18/2016 08:13 EST Would greatly appreciate input from a non-Italian EU citizen (or anyone who knows) on this topic (see below - copied from the expatexchange website), specifically on the part that describes health care ..... and have comprehensive sickness insurance cover....... After researching and speaking with people in the know, I was under the impression that a EU citizen is covered, just like any Italian, under the national health care system, i.e. has the same rights, access etc. I'm a EU citizen and will be moving to Italy later this year (retiring). Regardless of whether or not I am entitled to be covered, I am still considering whether to continue with my employer's healthcare plan OR sign up for a 'local' Italian/European one. I do not have any pre-existing conditions and am in good health, if that also helps to answer the question. The reason I am considering additional coverage either way would be to have a more private level environment and care if/when.... Any suggestions for which company to use would be welcome. Many thanks in advance! EU Citizens Obtaining Residency in Italy According to the Polizia di Stato, "Union citizens have the right of residence in Italy for a period of longer than three months if they are workers or self-employed persons in Italy; have sufficient resources for themselves and their family members not to become a burden on the social assistance system during their period of residence and have comprehensive sickness insurance cover, or any other equivalent means; are enrolled at a private or public establishment for the purpose of following a course of study, including vocational training and have sufficient resources for themselves and their family members not to become a burden on the social assistance system and a comprehensive sickness insurance cover; are family members accompanying or joining a Union citizen who has the right to reside in Italy for more than three months."

Italy: Level/quality of health care in Italy:

Hi again, I just posted on the topic of health care coverage, but would also like to get a general idea of the quality of health care, expertise, professionalism etc. Input on quality of dental care (overall and private vs. public) would also be great, i.e. can it be compared with the North American which in my opinion is one of the best? Thanks again!

Italy: Converters (electrical):

Good day, Can a BOSE wave radio bought in Canada be used safely with the right converter/ transformer in Italy? Even after talking to experts and lots of googling, there doesn't seem to be a clear answer. Mine is new and they cost twice as much in Europe!
