Denmark: 10 Tips for Living in Denmark:
No its not true - well ofcause there are crooks everywhere! - but what is true is that many landlords has rules that stipulate that you must pay to have the place painted whenever you vacate the appartment and that any failure to clean "perfectly" will lead to them hiring a cleaning company to do it for you ...both of which is costly!
In any case if this is a concern to you, make sure to read the small print in the contract and ask how much the previous tennant was charged upon moving out ....
After any such deductions, you are entitled to get the full deposit back ... but then again in Copenhagen the housing market has been quite high strung so I have no daubt that a lot of shady types have tried to take advantage of the situation - but in general the comments is NOT TRUE....
Denmark: Minimum salary for a family of 4:
wow darn - that a lot ...
NOTE: any unused part of the medium-tax bracket can be transferred to your spouse - effectively raising the cap before the highest tax bracket kicks in.
You do know that the average normal salary is around 25-35.000 DKK / month ! - It is quite possible to do ok for this, though ofcause if you are a family of 4 with only one income and your primary reason for moving here is to build up some savings ...then ...
EDIT: There seem to be some wild figures flying around here ! - Average realized marginal tax is around 50% - actual tax rate will usually be closer to 40-45% unless you have no debts or a very high income !
(NOBODY SHOULD END UP IN THE HIGHEST TAX BRACKET UNLESS THEY REALLY REALLY NEED THE CASHFLOW IN THE SHORT TERM - IF YOU INCOME IS HIGHTER THAN 35.000/MONTH MAKE SURE TO GET SOME ADVICE REGARDING TAX OPTIMIZATION)

I know I at one point heard about some cource being run for immigrants ...but Im pretty sure it was a one-time thing though I might be wrong (?)
Dont you know anybody how bikes? Its really not that hard ...what is you need to train? ...the actual biking or the trafic rules/tips to make it safe (though many danish cycklists dont follow them anyway) ??
Denmark: any step by step advice for moving to DK:

Denmark: Finding employment in denmark:
ok - not having time to answer each and every point I will try to give my experience....
Im danish, last year my girlfriend from Slovakia moved here ...and we had to find her a job so she could stay (spc. rules for the new EU countries)... which we found out CAN be very difficult. Now my gf has a Masters in Economics and is perfectly fluent in English but her danish skills were at the time almost non....we tried to look for everything from cleaning to work as a temp but was always told either "we will get back to you OR sorry, if u dont speak danish we cant hire you ...for safety reasons or "something"...
However, just as things were looking bleak I found out that Bestseller (big clothing chain ...aka something like H&M) hires lots of foreigners without danish skills ...and she got a great job there today. (of 23 employees in her department they have 13 different natinalities!)
Anyway to sum up - yes it can be difficult to find a job if u just move here without being able to speak danish or have some connections (ei. lots of people gets headhunted for jobs in DK even though they dont initially speak danish) ...thing is that lots of companies use english as a corporate language but not that many use it in their day2day internal operations ...
and regarding educations - obviously some educations are more international than others ...ei. I would imagine a US law degree would only be usefull for companies who are looking for THAT specific specialty...and also many titles are "protected" so that u need to have taken a very specific degree or exam here in DK to be able to use that tittle here ! ....
Moving to another country is one thing ....but getting your carreer ontrack can be troublesome - ofcause the trick (hard) is to try to turn your unusual CV into a strength rather than a disadvantage ...
Denmark: moving to denmark..looking for friends..:
Best of luck ...
a good way to get to know locals is always to try to join some club either sports or one which focussing on some other hobby which has your interest ...
Getting to know people by "going out" is a lot harder ...since most danes either go out in small "closed" groups of friends or ...late n' drunk to trying to meet members of the opposite sex ...which rarely lead to friendship - though might lead to other things if your lucky or charming enough *w*

Denmark: daughter of a Dane wants to bring family to denmark:
copied from the homepage FAQ of the danish immigration ministry:
Who can come to Denmark?
Question: Who can come to Denmark?
Answer: Residence in Denmark is not freely available to all. Since 1973, Denmark has enforced an immigration embargo. Conditions to enter and reside in Denmark vary i.a. with the nationality of the applicant:
Nordic citizens (that is nationals from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland) can always come to Denmark to reside and work without a permit.
EU/EEA citizens can enter and reside in Denmark if, for example, they are working or studying here.
Citizens from other countries cannot simply decide to live in Denmark for any lengthy period. Residence permits can be granted, however, if the individual is a
refugee
qualifies under family reunification legislation
is engaged in a particular time-limited commission in this country (for example, work or study).
It is up to immigration authorities to determine whether a foreign citizen is eligible for a residence permit in Denmark. This means that the Danish Immigration Service has the initial authority to examine and decide applications for residence permits on grounds of asylum, family reunification, or work.
....
I dont believe that applying for familiy-unification would be possible in your case ...ei. if your mom was living in denmark and u were under 15 sure ...but otherwise no.
Another route might be to apply for danish citizenship and then gain a residence permit through that - your mom being danish would mean that you would have been born with the right to danish citizenship, however as far as I can tell from the rules, you automatically forfeit this right at the age of 22 unless either taken advantage of or an application to keep the right "alive" was submitted before this date ....
Anyway I think u might want to contact the danish Immigration service to be sure to get a correct answer regarding your possibilities:
