Jamaica: Moving to New Kingston:

Hi everyone. I'll be moving to New Kingston soon and would like to know about the cost of living there- in particular the cost of Apt. rental. I was told I should allocate at least 35,000 + JA dollars (about 530 US)for rent and about 8,000-10,000 JA for groceries. What in your view is a reasonable cost for an apartment in N. Kingston? Any info you can provide will be appreciated.

Trinidad is like any place, yes there are certain areas you should avoid and of course be aware of your surroundings. There are also gated communities which are safe. You can try the local newspapers- trinidadexpress.com & guardian.co.tt. I would suggest Westmoorings, Maraval, Trincity, Valsayn, Newtown or St. Clair.
