Panama: Moving OUT:

We are building in Boquete Country Club & live in FL. We made5-6 trips there & I'm always on the lookout for useful contacts. I met Fransico Gra. He is not a moving agent, but is bilingual, a panamanian, with lots of contacts. My bank in Panama wanted expensive life insurance on my wife and I. I contacted Francisco and he beat the 1st quote by tons. I would give him a call. I use him because of the Gringo Factor. When they see me the price goes up. He tells me he has friends & relatives in Panama City. When I call his cell, we can barely herar each other. If you are still in Pan., the reception my be better. Let me know if he was good to you. I told him I would recommend him, but would forget him if any body did not get TopQuality cell = 507-6-682-8432 Regards, Joe Hart

Panama: Retirement In Panama:

I seen your message, but it says anybody w/ YEARS living in ...... That don't exactly fit, that's why we didn't respond, but here goes... My wife and I have been to Panama 3 times and bought property in Boquete Country Club. We have hired an archetic and the plans will be done in another week. We will sign a contract with a builder this month. My opinion. Panama City is too hot, noisy, crowded! Boquete is in the mountains. We are building a big and expensive house there, without heat or A/C! That should speak to the weather. The people there are very nice, tons nicer then in the US, and mega-tons nicer then where we grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Living out of a suicase, I was the worst dressed person (except for one town bum) The kids are polite, and spotless. Crime is almost non-existant. You would not leave your purse in an unlocked car, but other then that, crime is a lot greater in Orlando then there. The only things I could think of as negative are: #1. Should have done this sooner. #2. The Gringo factor. When the merchants see your from the US, prices double and triple on the spot. I went to a ex-pat meeting in Boquete and there were 50 people there. These were English speaking people from Europe, US, & Australia. They opened the meeting with, "Welcome to Paradice." These are not real estate agents or builders, trying to sell you something. They are residents of Boquete from all over the world. This meetiong is EVERY Tuesday, yet 50-60 people show up. Hope this helps. Panama Pepe

Panama: Young Liberal Couple moving to Panama:

Joel, Answer some questions first, so I'll know where you are coming from. Have you been to PC before? After you fly in to PC, what City will you go to and how do you get there? Did you know that you can not be employed in Panama? PanamaPepe

Panama: Locate a builder in Boquete:

Thanks for the reply. We still do not have a builder, and our house plans are almost completed. I will keep you posted. PanamaPepe
