Portugal: Titulo Renewal--Letter from Freguencia to Prove Address:

Hello, I have an appointment coming up to renew my Titulo de Residencia. I currently share/rent a room in a friend's apartment so none of the utilties are in my name and I also don't have a rental contract in my name either. To renew my Titulo, I need a proof of address. Does anybody know if a letter from my local Junta de Freguesia confirming my address (I'll need 2 signatures to confirm that I'm indeed living at a given address) is sufficient to prove that I have an address? Can I use the letter as a document prooving that I have a residence in Lisbon? Thanks in advance. Juliya

Portugal: Resident Permit/Non-Lucrative Visa Rewal Process Help:

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone has info about how to renew resident permit/Non Lucrative Visa. I've been living in Lisbon for almost a year via Non Lucrative Visa and would like to renew it so I can continue living here. Can anybody let me know what the process is the paperwork requirement? Is it pretty much the same process as getting the visa the first time around? Calling SEF, making an appointment and bringing the same docs? Or are there different requirements for a renewal? And the renewal is for 2 years, correct? Thank you in advance. Juliya

Portugal: Google Voice/ Call+Text Forwarding:

Hi All, I have a Portuguese cell phone number with MEO/MOCHE, but I would like to go traveling for a few months and wanted to know if there is an equivalent service to Google Voice for Portuguese/EU cell phone numbers. Is there a way I can forward my incoming texts/voice mails to my Portuguese cell phone while I travel? Thanks, Juliya

Portugal: Address Change after Receiving Titulo de Residencia:

Hi All, I just received my Titulo de Residencia card (which has my address on it) but it looks like I'll be moving to a new place in a couple month. Does anybody know what I need to do to change the address for my residence card? I'm assuming I need to get a new one. Do I need to do this via SEF? Thanks in advance, Juliya

Portugal: My SEF Appointment Experience--Lisbon:

Hi All, Just wanted to share my SEF appointment experience in Lisbon since so many people on this blog are seeking info. I arrived July 5 in Lisbon and called the next day to schedule my appointment with the SEF. My date was Sept. 26 (almost 3 months out). My location was in Odivelas, at the Loja do Cidadão de Odivelas located in the Strada Outlet. If you have an appointment there, I recommend you take a taxi. It's a pain in the ass to get to. There is a line to check in. They take your name and give you an application to fill out (which you can print and fill out prior to the appointment). You sit and wait for your name to be called. When my name was called they collected my documents/paperwork. Here is a list of things requested at this location: • Application • Passport • Passport Copy • Portuguese Visa Copy (the one issued to me by the Portuguese Consulate in US) • 2 Passport Photos • Rental Contract • Proof of Medical Coverage (I signed up for Medis through Millenium Bank) • Proof of Funds (I provided my US bank summary page print outs) Some things I didn’t expect to be requested (but I was able to submit my paperwork without them) • Debit cards for the bank accounts I provided as Proof of Funds • Proof that I have Millenium bank account/card All the docs/paperwork was taken and I was told to sit and wait for my name to be called again. I got called by a different person this time that entered all the info into the computer, took my fingerprints, requested my signature on 2 docs and collected a payment of 158.70 Euros. I was told I would have my visa for a year (starting today) in 2 weeks by mail. I spent about 2 hours total. I know different SEF locations request different paperwork, so please do not use this as your guideline. Just wanted to share my experience.

Portugal: SEF / MEDIS / Coverage Period:

Hello, I'm in the process of signing up for Medis for health care coverage. I plan on paying month to month. I know that for the SEF appointment, I have to provide proof of health care coverage with affective dates. Does this mean that I have to prepay for the entire year or is month to month payment plan sufficient. Thank you in advance, Juliya

Portugal: Medis / IBAN / Portuguese Bank Acct:

Hello, Anybody have Medis Health Coverage? Do you need a Portuguese Bank Account? I just tried to sign up and I was told I cant do it unless I have an IBAN. Thank you, Juliya

Portugal: Utilities / Portuguese Bank Acct:

Portugal: SEF / Healthcare Coverage:

I have my appointment with the SEF at the end of Sept and I know that I need to provide proof of insurance. I was planning on signing up with Medis. Does anyone know if I have to buy health insurane for the entire year or if I can just pay month by month and that would be sufficient/good enough for the SEF. Thanks, Juliya

Portugal: MANDATORY reference/guarantor. HELP!!!:

Hi, I did my visa through the SF Consulate. Do you know anyone from the EU? A guarantor does not have to be someone from Portugal. All they have to do is provide a short statement saying that they know you and your interests in moving to Portugal and then have that statement notarized. It has nothing to do with how much funds you have in the bank. Here is the response from the SF Consulate regariding a reference/guarantor... "Reference has nothing to do with where you are living, it is someone who is a citizen or resident of the EU, someone declaring to know you and your desire to reside in Portugal, having that statement notarized and includes copy of their national ID or residence permit." Do you know anyone from the EU that resides in US, because that can work as well as long as they have EU id. I believe you are working with Venceslau? He was super helpful throughout the entire process and was always responding to my emails/questions. Hope this helps.
