Thailand: Is a Work Visa Required for Me?:

Hello everyone. I am considering a move to Bangkok very soon. I am wondering about the work visa requirements. I will be working for an American company and dealing with clients in/from the U.S. My work allows me to work from home, so I am considering making my home somewhere outside the states. Will I be required to have a work visa, or can I get by with a different type as I am not working for a Thai company or with Thai clientele. Thanks in advance. Steve

Philippines: Quick decision to move:

Hello everyone. My name is Glen. I am single, 31, and male looking to move to ASEAN. I have heard so many good things about the Philippines and have friends that have lived there and wrong shut up about it. I have a job that mg my boss says I can work from anywhere as long as I keep US hours as my work is client based. I have heard/read about a few different places and would like some opinions. Makati, Cebu, Baguio, and Merakina. Is there a resounding positive or negative to any of these places? I don't speak any of the languages in the Philippines, so is English spoken by many/most? Thanks in advance for all your help.

Malaysia: Malaysia on a Whim:

My name is Glen. I am 31 single male from the mid-west U.S. I woke up a few weeks ago and decided I needed to move out of country. I started researching places in SE Asia, and I think of all the places I have researched, Penang is tops on the list. I have been to a couple different places in Asia, and have really enjoyed it. I talked to my boss and he says I can move and he will allow me to work from home, wherever that is, but he won't pay for a move, visa, transportation back and forth, etc. It is all on me. I am willing to take on the cost to change things up a little and do something more with my life. I have read a lot about retired life in Malaysia, but that isn't me. I will still be working 40-50 hours a week and doing it probably in the off hours of business hours because of the time differences as my job is customer service related. Is Malaysia a good place for someone in my situation, youngish, working, and single? If not, might there be a different place that you may have lived that would be more ideal? Being that I am not going to be working for a Malaysian company, will I still need a work visa, or can I get a different kind that won't take as long to process and still allow me to stay there for as long as I would like? Thanks in advance for all your help!!!
