Portugal: Cascais vs Lagos:

As with any country, people are all different. We are looking to move there and embrace those differences. We are Americans who have friends in England Ireland Scotland Holland and Germany. Please do not lump all Americans together.

Well said. Thank you

Portugal: thoughts:

I understand why a person would ask for where the large expat communities are. As an American couple, my husband and I are planning on coming there and looking at different areas in which to live. It is normal for people to want to have a bit of the familiar at first. We want to settle into a area and feel happy there. We do not want to move to Portugal and make it American. Far from that. Also I wonder how the Portuguese people feel about expats coming there looking for work. If the country is short on jobs then don't they dislike that? We will not be working there just spending winters there and trying to find peace.

Portugal: Dogs in Surrounding of Tavira & Vila Nova de Cacela:

Is there a chance he was bit by a snake? If it is swollen you can try a benadryl and see if that helps. Good luck

Portugal: Best month:

My husband and I are planning a trip there in 2017. We would like a month that is the least favorable so we can get an idea of the "worst" weather etc. We want to spend time in different areas to find our place. What month do you think fits that? We will not be there during the tourist months since neither of us like crowds Thanks

Portugal: How to get helpful information:

Thank you for your wonderful encouragement ! I love to read accurate accounts from people who are currently going thru the process. We can't wait to come visit . I am so excited like a kid at Christmas. Again thanks

Portugal: Retirement Visa / Schengen:

Craig do you always need a visa to visit even if it is only for a week? I am in the US and want to come over to look around in March or April. I have been reading all the posts about Visa requirements. My husband and I have been over to Europe a few times for up to 3 weeks and have never had to get anything. So just wondering if the rules have changed since our last trip years ago

Portugal: Update on finding a rental and SEF:
