That is hilarious!!! In a sad sort if way.
Mexico: How to prevent incoming emails without unsubscribing:
The same thing just started happening to me the last cpl of days. More so today. I think it's just a glitch that will, more than likely, be fixed.

What city? And that's High Season for sure... Anywhere in Mexico.
Mexico: Driving Safety in Mexico:
Google Maps says 4 hours 20 minutes...
Mexico: Ajijic Questions:
They are, also, easily broken by roots, rocks, etc, have a tendency to move under soil pressure and can deteriorate over the years as they are a "natural" product made from the Earth that can and will return to its origin. I was a Landscape Architect for 24 years and replaced a lot of terra cotta pipe over the years. My recommendation for high pressure situations and longevity was, always, Schedule 40 PVC.
Mexico: Non-Removable Dentures:
I've had a "flipper" plate since I was 15. Lost my top front teeth (6) playing Ice Hockey. Many chipped also. I got permanent top and bottom bridges just before I left Ohio for just 1,400.00. Would have been 4,800.00 if I hadn't been working and had good insurance. Still getting used to the bottom plate because I never had one till age 64.I know this is not helpful for Mexico (sorry) but, maybe someone who is still in the States, working with insurance might want to check it out before they move? Worked very well for me!
Mexico: Advice about Riviera Maya:
In my, humble, opinion, I would scratch Mexico altogether. I've been here in PDC going on two years but the King of the U.S. is going to ruin that country and with Mexico/U.S. relations, already, strained, once Mexico elects the Left Wing, Anti-America, Anti-DJT Lopez Obrador, the two countries relationship will be harmed beyond repair, at least as long as the criminal is in the white house anyway and Americans will no longer be welcome or safe in Mexico. Male or female. Puerto Rico being part of the States that have been getting screwed over for years won't be any better than being in the States so, my recommendation for, what I think is the most important reason which you didn't list, other than safety is, unfortunately, Geo-Political due to the hate mongering toward Mexico from the current, incompetent administration.
When I moved, actually, Panama, had been my first choice. I will be moving, myself, in the Fall if 2017 to get well established before 2018. The Presidential Election in Mexico is July 2018. Panama is safe, for the most part, inexpensive similar to Mexico with excellent services from what I've read.
Again, this is my opinion considering the current climate.

I've been waiting all day for someone to answer that question!!! ;-) That answer was, definitely, worth the wait. Best laugh of the day, by far. Thanks...
Mexico: Mini splits:
Here's an excerpt from an online article concerning maintenance of mini split a/c units. In my experience with any hvac unit it's all about changing filters (use good filters, not cheap ones) and protecting the integrity of the compressor by keeping it clean and free of debris. Check and replace loose or worn belts too. I hope this helps you some. It's very inexpensive to do bi or yearly maintenance on these units and not much work at all. Replacing one is much more expensive. You'll get 12-15 years out of it if you maintain it properly. Considerably more if you don't over use it and keep it like a Meat Locker in your home. I moved to Mexico for the heat! My arthritis is, virtually, nonexistent here and I use my A/C sparingly. Good luck!
"All About the Cleaning"
The average ductless mini split air conditioner, with proper care and maintenance, will have a lifespan of 12 to 15 years. If you live in an area with high humidity or salt, your system may not last quite as long. The best maintenance you can provide your system is cleaning it. Clean and change your filters. Not only will you prevent breakdowns and freeze-ups, but you will enhance the ability of the system to purify the air in your home. Most air handlers have tabs to take out filters to clean and/or change easily. For your compressor, take the garden hose and wash it down well several times during the season of use.
Caution: When servicing your system, especially when using water, shut the power off.
Other Tips to Keep Your System Running Smoothly
Ductless mini split air conditioners work best in temperatures between 14°F to 109°F.
Make sure there is an appropriate place for condensation to run off.
Keep vegetation, debris, etc. from around the compressor for optimal air-flow (which will also make it easier to clean).
If you do not keep your compressor reasonably clean, it will overheat, which will lead to a major break-down.
Lastly, if your remote stops working, first try the reset button, often found at the bottom of the remote. If you are still having problems, contact the manufacturer.
Keep your ductless mini split air conditioner running well for as long as possible by performing regular maintenance. If something goes wrong, take care of it right away to prevent any long-term damage.
Mexico: towns near playa del carmen:
I live in PDC and most, if not all, coastal towns in the region will be more expensive in which to live. Rental prices, food, if you stay away from the Tourist Traps, cant be beaten. If you live a little inland off the coast, it's even less expensive. Living more inland anywhere along The Riviera Maya will be less expensive, of course. I live on the cost but outside of The City Center a bit and my rent is 450/mos for a very nice 1 bdrm apt. Furnished and equipped.
