Saudi Arabia: What are the Pro's & Cons of living in Saudi Arabia?:

I would much prefer living in Khobar due to close proximity of and freedom of Bahrain. I've lived in or worked in a number of the major cities and yes Jeddah is more relaxed than say Riyadh. The Dammam/Khobar/Dhahran triangle is the better place for expat families. Also for new "expats" Compound living for the wives brings in local support networks, ability to meet people and socialise. Living off of compound can be very lonely for the wives. It is a major benefit to people that they can finish work say around 6 or 7pm and in the Triangle and be sitting down to dinner in Bahrain at 9pm from very good experience.

Saudi Arabia: Compound accomodation in Riyadh:

Single person accommodation on Compounds is a bit like "hens having teeth" at the moment. You might try FAL Compound as they do have a large amount of studio and one bedroom accommodation units but i do not currently know the situation on their waiting list. Majority of Riyadh Compounds are for family accommodation and they do not allow too many singles.
