Ecuador: So long and thanks for all the fish:

Hello Frank, and others. After reading these comments, and on many other posts, I must agree with you. Most new posts starts out with a positive question, no matter how idiotic or 'stupid' some may think, then it spirals into negativity and hateful comments. Windshadow should be banned from this forum. The administrator, Susan I believe, needs to really think about what kind of forum she wants. Right now, this forum offers little advice (usually at the beginning of each post), and a lot of abuse, negativity and hate. Adiós también.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Expats to Mexico?:

After reading the comments, I find it interesting. I 'hope' to be moving to Ecuador later this year. I have lived in Australia for 6 years, Germany for 3 1/2 years, Maui/HI for 4 years (I threw in Maui as many Americans don't realize it is part of the USA... No... Really). I never hang out with Americans, no matter where I live, as I have learned first hand, many times, that 'most', not all, are just not very courteous people to others. When I move to EC, after I get my immigration paperwork finished in Cuenca, I plan to travel around for about 6 months and find a place that has very few if any Gringos. My Spanish is 'okay', but my believe is that, if you treat others, not like you would like to be treated, but treat others better than what you expect, when you think about the people around you and make decisions on what might be best for 'everyone' (like not haggling for the absolute lowest price, but to find a price both parties are happy with), and have in your vocabulary, the words 'Thank you very much', 'May I please have', 'May I help you', 'No thank you, but thank you very much anyway'. You will have no problem wherever you live in the world. I've been in the customer service industry for almost 40 years. And I am so tired of people thinking of only themselves. It really is the American way. I don't want the internet, I don't want a fluffy towel, I don't want a TV, I don't want to listen to how great America is and how much better it is there, I don't want to listen to hypocrites. I want to relax, assist people who appreciate the help, read, and enjoy. Thank you very much for your time and sorry to babble on. :)

Ecuador: Howz the fishing?:

Calling everyone in the highlands a flake and putting down commenters. Great way to get information. Now. The fishing outside of Ecuador is horrible. Please stay in Panama.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Residency Paperwork:

Hello everyone. Question please. I am starting my paperwork (background checks, etc.) for my Pension 9-I Visa. Does it matter if some paperwork has my middle 'name' and some has only my middle 'initial'? I am getting a new passport (thank you commenters from a previous post) and they want to spell out my full middle name, but I was going to start out my background checks with only my middle initial. Thank you very much for your time and opinions. Happy Holidays David :)

Ecuador Welcome Forum: One or Two Copies of Background Checks:

Hello Everyone, I will be moving to EC next year on a 9-I visa. Sometime between February and April, depending on how the paperwork goes. I will be turning in my paperwork to the Cuenca/Azoguez office of immigration. From what I have read, that is the most popular office. I have just started working on my background checks and proof of SS funds. My question please is. Should I get two copies of each report and Apostille? That of course would be double the costs. But is it worth it? And yes, I know, it's only worth it if I need it... :) Thank you very much for your time and have a great weekend. David

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Good Time To Move To EC:

Hello everyone. First. Thank you very much for all your positive and enthusiastic comments, views, and experience. ;) I'll be moving to EC next year, not sure when. I start collecting SS in February, so can travel down anytime after that. My question is. When is a good time to move? The rainy season wouldn't be the best. Middle of summer? Spring or Fall? My birthday? ;) I'll only have a backpack and one suitcase with me on this trip, travelling light. I'll be staying around Cuenca until I get all my paperwork squared away. Then travel throughout the country for about a year.... Or so. Looking for where I would like to settle down. If it helps you, I'm not looking at beach areas, I'm more into the mountains, thinking of around 5k to 6k feet (1500 to 1800 m). Thank you again for your time. David :)

IL is a huge ripoff. All their info is one sided, towards selling you something at any cost.
