Sorry to shatter your dream, but the country is turning into a corrupt and crime ridden place. It is not a viable option to bring a family or partner to, let alone yourself.

Fiji: considering moving to fiji:

Hi, Sorry to shatter your illusions, but this dream would in fact turn into a nightmare. The country is slowly going bankrupt, due in part to the miltary dictatorship now in place in the country having a very negative impact on tourism which is the countrys main revenue earner, as well as the effects of the financial crisis, not to mention the recent 20% devaluation of the country's dollar as a measure designed to try to counter these. Violennt crimes are escalating as everything now costs more due to the devaluation, and people are now starting to lose their jobs as hotels and resorts (the main employers) reduce staff. Unfortunately its all down hill for the country in the forseeable future .....

Fiji: Retiring to Fiji:

Sorry to shatter your dream, but the country is turning into a corrupt and crime ridden place. And due to harse censorship currently in place due to the military coup, one doesn't hear about it. It is therefore not a viable option to bring a family or partner to, let alone yourself.

Fiji: advice needed for relocation:

As an Australian who has worked in Fiji as an expat in 2007, I'd have to agree 100% with Mara1's comments. In the meantimne, you may wish to checkout http://classifieds.fijitimes.com/ ans view the 'situations vacant' section of the country's most widely read daily paper.

I'm currently living and working in Fiji, please let me know anything specific you want to know and I can try to fill you in.

Australia: moving 2 brisbane:

There are soccer clubs and soccer fields pretty much all over Brisbane. Depending upon the area you are looking at buying into, the Kenmore/Chapel Hill area is a nice leafy area, is safe, great place for kids, schools both in the suburb and in neighboring suburbs, perhaps check out www.realestate.com.au and do a search for Kenmore and see the style and prices of the houses. Its not the cheapest area in Brisbane, but you get what you pay for, as well as having the advantages mentioned above. Anything else needed, let me know, as whilst I don't currently live there, I have been living there for the last 10 years and my home is there (an d in this suburb) so know the area (as well as other parts of Brisbane) quite well. Cheers, Simon.
