Scotland: Question about forwarding mail:

Hi, we have finally received our visas and will be arriving in Glasgow soon for at least 3 years. Has anyone used any of the mail forwarding services? If so which one, and is it worth it? Can they send packages from say Amazon US and avoid VAT tax? ( a stretch but just curious!) Thanks for your help! Cheers!

Hi, middle aged (in dog years) professionals moving from US to Glasgow. For his job in August 2016.. He'll be working in Center City. Would like quiet, but convenient neighborhood. Bringing two small dogs. Not into pub scene. Neighborhood suggestions.? Places to avoid. Have heard w end and south. Anything more specific? Thanks!
