Portugal: Working as an independent contractor:

I'm moving to Lisbon in December. My American employer would like me to keep working for them remotely, but we're finding the cost and complexity of compliance with Portuguese payroll to be prohibitively high. The other options are for me to work as an independent contractor, which would cost me more and restrict some tasks and access I have as an employee, or find an employee leasing company who could act as my Portuguese employer and middleman. Does anyone have experience with and advice to offer on either of these methods? Is there another way we haven't thought of? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Portugal: Keeping both Phone numbers?:

Hi, Just got to Portugal, but I followed your advice before leaving and signed up for google voice numbers for my husband and myself. We couldn't port our numbers without disconnecting ourselves from our AT&T account, so we set up as forwarding from our US plan, thinking we could just update it when we got a new plan. My husband signed up with Vodafone yesterday, and I'm struggling to figure out how to get google voice to work again. It won't recognize his Portuguese number, which isn't really surprising, but there must be a way to make the google voice number work on its own. Did you run in to this issue? If so, do you remember how you solved it? Any help would be much appreciated.
