Philippines: Property taxes:

Hello, My wife and I bought a lot last year in Palawan. Though we are still waiting for the land title to be officially authorised, we have been asked to pay taxes and even "backtaxes" (taxes apparently not pad by the previous owner). What is the tax procedure? Where can I find more info on it? Who can I consult to make sure the payment is recognised by whicever authority is supposed to receive the money. And has anybody had a similar experience with "backtaxes"? Thx for your replies.

Philippines: Property title (deed) - Palawan:

Hello, just registered to this forum and looking fwd to adding to the discussions. I have two concrete questiions, re: property. 1/ My wife (from the Philippines) and I have bought a lot in Palawan through a contact, linked to an agency. We have received a countersigned sales contract and a countersigned waiver of rights (whereby the previous owner waives all rights to the lot). But we have not received a proper title or deed yet, as we were informed there is currently a total ban in Palawan on processing titles/deeds for properties. Is anybody in the same situation, that is awaiting the official title/deed? Any suggestions on where to find out more about this temporary ban? 2/ Does anybody have an idea of the cot of a roll of barbed wire (150 m/roll), and where it can be bought? Looking fwd to your responses.

Philippines: cost to build a home:

Hi Joncena. My wife and I are also looking into getting a cost idea. We have contacted two architect agencies, and both informed us we should allow for 25-30k, per sq m. A bit of a puzzling reply to me to be honoust, as I would assume the finishing makes a lot of difference. So how can they come up with such an overall cost? It is not clear to me at this moment (despite some further questioning from my side) how the sq m are calculated: as the actual built area or the final and total number of sq m. Let me know if you find out more.
