Mexico: Oaxaca Car Rentals:

Howdy again. So there is a possibility that my family of 3 will be staying close to Oaxaca city for about 4 months coming up soon. While we anticipate needing to get into town (20 minutes or so from city center Oaxaca) a few times per week, we were wondering what the options were for a long term lease. Not needing a new car, really, just one that starts most of the time and goes forward, left, right, backwards and stops. Any thoughts?

Mexico: Oaxaco:

Hi all - My wife, 18 year old son and I have an opportunity to stay in Oaxaco over the summer (well, June through October) and I have a few quick questions. Taxi vs car rental? We would be staying about 20-30 minutes from the central plaza, and anticipate weekly trips into town for groceries, etc as well as some day trips to the coast and some sightseeing type stuff. Is renting a car a thing there? Is there a robust taxi community or local bus transit system? From the states to there. We have an RV and if we really wanted to, could groove from anywhere along the US border on down. Is that a thing or are we just asking to be on the news? Or, if an RV is just a bad-idea magnet, would simply driving a car be an option? Thoughts? Dirty Remarks, go for it. Anything funky we would need to know before coming? Things like it rains 16 inches per day in July, the snakes will not only kill you, but will enjoy doing so, stuff like that? Any insight is appreciated -

Ecuador Welcome Forum: CURRENT Baños Lodging Options?:

I cannot recommend La Casa Verde enough. Sharon and Steve are incredible hosts. We just stayed for 3 weeks :) http://www.lacasaverde.com.ec/ here is a walkthrough if you like http://www.trapixweb.com/lacasaverde/

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Travel from Ambato to Canoa:

Ok, she who must be obeyed is freaking a bit over our travel tomorrow. My best guess is taking a bus from Banos to Ambato, then switching to either santo Domingo or manga (if there is one) then to Canoa, which will be a stop along the way. Bus routes outside of anywhere to and from quito or other major lanes are hard to find, but that route seems legit right?

Ecuador Welcome Forum: To bus, or not to bus!:

That is the question. My wife and our 12 year old arrive tomorrow night, spend a few days in Quito, then, in the most gringo thing we can think of, head to Cotovalo for a few days and then south to Banos for a few weeks, leaving a few more weeks open to head wherever feels right. So...to bus or not to bus? Traveling pretty light if that helps. Thanks all

Ecuador: Mobile Data:

Hi, Will be in country for a month in October. It is a working holiday, so am in need for a data plan. I can use my phone as a hotspot (Note7) but mostly will need for laptops. It appears most of the places we will be staying at provide wifi or internet, but just want to cover bases just to be sure. Thanks

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Train Travel:

Howdy. We are T-2 months for a month-long stay in Ecuador, testing the waters if you will. Wife and I both have home based businesses we can take with us. (read: laptop, skype). The question is. While we wish to do all of the sightseeing possible to fall in love with Ecuador, we hold the intention to work while we are there to test this as a life change instead of a vacation. We fly in to Quito of course, and want to spend a few days in Otavalo, but then our next stop is Bano for a few weeks. Is there (non-touristy) train service either from Otavalo or Quito south? Or is it still just for show? Thanks!
