Uruguay: Immigration - What am I missing:

Hello all, I am the husband of a returning Uruguayan. We purchased an apartment in Pocitas last summer (2016). She returned to Uruguay permanently in October and I came to Uruguay in mid-December. Since then we have been busy completing our move and dealing with the last of the paperwork for her car. Until now we have not worked seriously on my immigration status. From all we have been told and have read, to start the residency we have to make an appointment to present documentation. The problem is whenever we call or go online there are no appointments available. We are stuck in this loop where she is told they are making appointments for 2018 but none are available and to call back in a week. A week later she gets the same response. Is there something we are missing? I’m in no hurry to get permanent status, but I would like to get some kind temporary status so that I will not have to leave the country every 90 days. At the very least I would like to be able to get an appointment to start the residency process. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

Uruguay: US Television in Uruguay:

Is anyone using a step down transformer to run a US spec television? And if so, how does it work? I know the broadcast system is different in Uruguay from the US and the built in tuner will not work. I am specifically trying to determine if there is any problem with stepping down the voltage. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Uruguay: Transporting dog to Uruguay:

Have any of you had any experience bringing a dog to Uruguay? I have good information about the vet and paperwork requirements but am looking at the best way to fly the dog. Our plan is to fly direct from Miami to Montevideo but do not know if it would be better to fly the dog as checked baggage or as cargo. He is an Australian Cattle Dog, about 55 pounds. What are your experiences / opinions. Thanks

Uruguay: Moving Company reccomendations:

Hello all, My wife (a returning Uruguayan citizen) and I are moving to Montevideo in October. We have already arranged an apartment in Pocitos and I have started looking for a moving company to arrange shipment. We are bringing her car, a Honda Fit and our household belongings. I am looking for recommendations for companies that can handle this move. Thnks
