Italy: Apostille:
Does anyone know if I need a power of attorney to be apostilled for buying a house? Both of us will not travel to sign the deed.
What other documents are good to have apostilled before moving to Italy ? Do they have to translated first? ( birth, marriage certificates) I figured I'd do them all at once.
Thanks!
Italy: No reply from real estate agents:
If they want the business they will find a way to communicate. I found that the agent who showed me my preferred property couldn't speak english after I had emailed her. (she got translations from her attorney daughter) She had her on the phone while doing the showing, she brought a translator when I came back to view 2 months later and she consistently answered every question in a super prompt manner. Language is no barrier. Don't accept less than great service. It starts at the get go.
I had little patience because I am a realtor!
I also viewed with a realtor who was extremely cultivated and spoke beautiful english. Service however didn't compare to my non english speaking realtor.
This is in Puglia.

As long as you haven't signed anything or made any kind of appointment with that agent regarding that apartment you are good to go!

Italy: Self-employed in Italy:
This was a very informative post! thank you. We are considering self employment or a business. We have also heard it is very easy to register a business in Montenegro. Perhaps, researching foreign businesses ability to do business in Italy would an interesting idea.
Italy: Immigration Lawyers in Italy:
That would be very sad indeed for those that have homes and a life in Italy ( including refugees) . I am sure these people wanted a united Europe ( otherwise they wouldn't have ventured outside their own countries)
Another question to consider would be how to stay in Italy as an EU citizen( not Italian ) if Italy
Decides to leave the EU.
Immigration lawyers out there on the forum ??
Italy: opening italian bank account:

Italy: Home owner insurance:
Does anyone recommend specific companies for home owner insurance in Puglia/Italy?
Do you get it as you buy, or after?
We are assuming one insures the entire building and contents for the usual. Theft, fire, etc etc.
How is it any different from the US? We use CHUBB here so an equivalent would be nice.
Thanks!
