Ecuador: Cuenca, Ecuador Vs. Medellin, Colombia:

I've been reading some of the forums on here about Cuenca (Ecuador), and I feel like a lot of expats, retirees, and travelers are making up their minds way too fast when it comes to moving to another country without looking at all of the options. I believe in efficiency, and I want to talk about what I've found to be the best place to retire. After traveling around the world, searching online, and making a lot of mistakes, I finally found a place that has it all, plus provides an amazing adventure almost every day: Medellin, Colombia. From the moment I stepped out of my American Airlines, I felt a different, yet familiar vibe. I claimed my bags, got into my Uber, and started my descent from the airport into the beautiful city of Medellin. I was one of those guys that never believed in love at first sight, but at some point, the car took a left, and there it was. I was greeted by the most unbelievable city, surrounded by welcoming mountains, a clear blue sky, and an almost indistinguishable river that separated the two sides of the valley. My heart felt warm, and I thought to myself, "Wow... I'm home". This is when it began, and I fell in love with the city. Everyone will tell you the same thing: weather is amazing, people are extremely warm, and women are incredibly beautiful. But, for me, it wasn't just that. In Medellin, I found a place that I could call home. I contacted Brad Hinkelman, at Casacol, right in my second week of being here. He helped me out with the process of purchasing real estate, and now I'm buying my second property (I own a home, now getting an investment property). In Cuenca, I was actually quite disappointed, because I had great expectations about the city, but it's really not what people say it is. I invite everyone here to visit Medellin, Colombia. If you're around here, shoot me a message. We can go out for a beer and I can tell you more about it. There's actually an amazing article comparing the two cities. You can read it here: http://medellinliving.com/medellin-vs-cuenca/ Brad's site is: en.casacol.co These guys are amazing, so once you make up your mind to move to Medellin, he's your go-to guy. *I'm not getting paid to write this*
