We are planning on moving to the QRO area summer 2017

Some Forum Posts:

Mexico: Does anyone bank with USAA?:

Hi RVGRINGO, I saw your post in the Expat Forum that you never obtained a Mex Bank account. I also bank with USAA but was wondering if we should get a Schwab Account due to not charging for foreign transaction fees for ATM withdrawals. How bad does USAA hit you for ATM withdrawal fees in Mexico?

Mexico: Attending retire in Mexico seminar:

I'd be careful. My sense is that these are put together by people anxious to make a buck. There's lots of good books out there to help you with your search as well as forum's like this and blogs. When you are ready for an exploratory trip...Mexico is easy to travel to & through.

Mexico: Recommended books on moving to Mexico?:

My favorite book is, Magic Made in Mexico: Live your Dream...in Mexico. Author: Joanna van der Gracht De Rosado. It's a great story about the author's experience of moving to Mexico and the life she made there. My other favorite is, San Miguel De Allende: A Place in the Heart: Expatriates find themselves in Mexico by John Scherber. There's lot of other pretty good guides that I've gone through as well. You can find all these books by doing a quick search on Amazon by using...Retire in Mexico. Good luck. I've read quite a bit and it's really helped my research effort.

Mexico: US Military Families:

I think VA care is limited to the US and a few other locations like Manila. If you are retired from the military Tricare Int'l SOS provides services for medical treatment in Mexico.

Mexico: Manzanillo Trip:

We've done the GDL trip to Manzanillo several times and we had no security concerns. On our last trip we stayed at the Las Brisas and had a great time. Once we got to the resort...we never left during our stay. I'd recommend using the bus from GDL and a taxi to get to your hotel. It's a lot easier to travel that way. Enjoy your trip!

Mexico: expenses in mexico:

Take a look at the following website: http://qroo.us or simply google: Two Expats Living in Mexico. They've got a great blog with info on cost of living including housing and transportation.

Mexico: Expats in Queretaro:

Hello, We'll be moving to Queretaro this summer with our daughter going into the 6th grade. I'd be interested in hearing from any expats about their experiences with the Mexican school system. We've located a private school where we'll be attending. Additionally, if anyone knows a reputable realtor...that would be greatly appreciated!

Mexico: Saw another dead body tonight.:

So where do you live? It does not sound like any place I would ever want to go. Mexico is a big country so it would be helpful if you posted the town/state where you live to put in perspective your experiences.

Mexico: Mexico, 3rd most dangerous....:

Did this happen in northern Baja?

Mexico: Taxes on 401k withdrawals and Social Security?:

The US has a treaty with Mexico and with most other nations that require US nationals to pay US income taxes but not to the country of residence. That way...you aren't taxed by two countries. There may be other other taxes levied by Mexican states or municipalities..aka property taxes you'll have to pay.
