I hope someone answers you question.We too are looking for a longer stay in d r next winter.Only 3-4 monthws but to only have a 30 tourist is no good. Now saying that I was there 3 years ago (loved it) but only on tourist and everone said don,t worry about it .When you ngo to airport they will probably not charge you anything but if you get a person that is in bad mood could charge you what it would cost you to pay for renewal for each month.So you know that did happen to me $25.00 pemonth over departure tax so not bad

we have learned that the whole area around the mexico crossing is under construction ,So is there another SAFE way to cross into Mexico heading for GUADULAJARA.Prefer main Truck route??

We are planning to drive to Mexico as well .Leaving from Ontario.I have being told that leave from Laredo and take toll road to Guardalavaca We are going to stay in Lake Chapala area.When do you actually plan on Crossing the border?

Mexico: Life in Bacalar:

We are in Lake Chapala area and love it but there's a few things you might not like.3 days ago I woke up and it was 1 degree c 34 f very cold It still goes to 22-224 every day mornings very cool.Also this whole area although lovely is speed bump capital of the world. A few extra repairs to car??? Festivals 3 extra this month all mardi grass for each city.The last one is in Chapala and it lat all week of the 17th to 18th .

Quite surprised to hear a Canadian talking about our Health ins.But it is not truly health ins.It is OHIP --Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan. +I think it is the best in the World.

Mexico: Driving from Texas to Lake Chapala Area:

I have heard of trouble at Brownsville crossing But nothing recent.Anyway We crossed December 1 2016 and we are here now .We crossed at Pharr and the drive was great Loved the 1.5 lanes .That is supposed ruck route but we only saw,(passed ) 4 trucks all the way here.With the 1.5 lanes everything was just great.

Dominican Republic: Entering with tourist visa, staying a year:

I did this 2 years ago and was only charged $25.00 us a month for over the tourist card.Plus departure tax ofcoarse.Now saying that the other post stated rounding ilolegal residents and shipping them back was all the talk even 2 years ago .Saying that this could be a problem.I was told do nothing but I also should have taken a trip back to airport to get another 30 days.Now if I did that it would have cos5 me $40.00 us each way to airport and back every month,So just paying the fine at the airport when leaving financially was best.Keep in mind I was only there 4 months.
