Germany: German Taxation of Foreign Pensions/Social Security:

Hi, Surprisingly, I cannot find information online about EU countries' taxation of foreign pensions. We are looking to migrate from the U.S. to Europe (UK, Netherlands, or Germany). We have pension, rental, and other investment income and, eventually, will have Social Security income. We do not intend to work. I know that most EU countries will tax the investment income, but is foreign pension and social security income treated as income the same as employment income?

Canada: visa for non working/self sufficient:

Did you ever get an answer? I, too, am searching for the same info.

Canada: Best Place To Retire:

What info do you have for retired persons looking to move to Canada? We are self-sufficient and have no need to work, just spend money in Canada....

Ireland: Retired to Ireland, NOW GIVEN 7 DAYS TO LEAVE!!!:

Reading through all of the posts to this thread has been eye-opening! My husband and I are newly retired and looking at various countries as possibilities. We both have Irish roots (I even have a third cousin in Waterford) and love the Irish countryside, so we were looking at Ireland as a place to land. Rethinking it, in light of comments here (especially the comment that Ireland did not accept proof of a pension to meet the income requirement!!). We will continue our search for our foreign oasis...!

Netherlands: U.S. pension and taxes:

Hi Jackster, did you get a definitive answer to your question? I, too, am considering relocation to the Netherlands but am concerned that my Federal pension, rental income, and investment income will be severely taxed. Are there any offsets? I am hoping against hope that, perhaps, my pension will not be taxed (or taxed at a lower rate). Thanks for any information you can send my way!

Canada: Retirement in Canada:

We are also looking to retire to Canada. What, if anything, were you able to determine about retiring???? We have a nice government pension plus investments and are self-sufficient. Just want to live out our lives in relative peace....
