El Salvador: Racist country:

There have not been many black people traveling in Central America, except for in the past decade or so. Also, there are some people in El Salvador who resent Americans, because they were deported from the US. I have encountered people who have behaved in a racist fashion towards me, and I have noted that their skin is typically much darker than my own, and their identity as a "Salvadoran" is pretty strong; but if you think about it, that is a political identity, and not an ethnicity; and, there is a reason why they do that. There are also a number of racist white tourists in El Salvador. They tend to have substance abuse issues, and general narcissism, which is a psychological disorder.

El Salvador: Looking for a relaxing spot:

I will take a look at El Tunco to see the changes, it is one of the areas of El Salvador that is constantly experiencing an injection of capital investment, which is great for the local economy. That said, you can unfortunately witness a bit of "class conflict" there, between those who have, and those who do not, among the tourist. The wealthier Salvadorans tend to rent hotel rooms nearby for in excess of $100 per night, the back packers share dorm rooms for $8 - $10 per night, and now there will be more tourists in town spending significantly more than that per night. Obviously, many tourists would rather compare themselves, if comparison is what they are into, with those who are worse off than with those who are better off. Unfortunate, but true.

El Salvador: Searching for a safe beach town with waves and good for familys:

But do always realize that the beaches can be unpredictable, and many people have drowned along El Salvador's coast, and the explanation most often given is that the person who drowned did not know how to swim, surf, whatever, and that they were drunk, but that is the excuse given, and not always true.

El Salvador: Very unimpressed with El Salvador:

Wow! Sorry your experience was so disappointing! There are some places where the servers take a delicious delight in making sure that they do not get you what you want, though. You have to catch on to their game. At worst, one food service worker accepted payment, left the restaurant, I thought to obtain change, but as it turned out it was the end of her shift, she simply told her co-worker that I had not paid yet, and she walked off with the money! Now that is BAD service! Lol!
