Brazil: Moving to Floripa:
Hi Jenna! I was born in BR and moved to the US 50 yrs ago. Things have not changed that much as far as some individuals trying to take advantage of individuals like you. Be real carefully and "Trust no One" for any reason. Even attorneys are crooked. If you are going to hire one don't pay all the fee up front. Pay as things happens. Also bargain and negotiate the fees. If you are going to buy land or home buy some thing that has "escritura registed in cartorio." Please dont buy anything if they are not going to give you the escritura. Stay way from the "uso capiao." They will say that this is the same as escritura but its not. You will loose your money. If you try to go to court for anything done wrong to you it will be in court for years because judges are bought every day by the people who do harm to others. I know Floripa and have a friend there who i visit once in a while. It is a beautiful place to live. It is a Island with beautiful beaches all around it. Good luck to you and your partner.
