Luxembourg: Areas:
Hello EJM77,
Welcome to the Luxembourg Expat Community!
Steinsel is a great village as it is close to the city center (15-20 mins by car) and Kirchberg. Plus you won't have to go through the city to get home is nice. Walferdange & Heisdorf are also very similar location wise and community wise as well. Walderdange has a bit more children to do. Lots of playgrounds, pools (PIDAL, Syndicat Intercommunal) and nice shopping malls which would be identical to what you would be use to in the UK. Heisdorf has a very nice park for your family as well if that helps. There a few nurseries (creches) throughout those villages as well!
I hope this helps!
Luxembourg: Where to live:
Hi Perg45,
First of all, I hope you enjoy this new adventure!
I moved there when I was 12 in 2007, and my parents are moving back this fall back to the USA for good (about 10 years after an original 2 year assignment). I attended ISL for the entire time and loved every minute of it. The school and community are extremely welcoming as everyone has been the new kid so they get it.
We lived in Bertrange from 2007-2010 and then in Belair from 2010-2012. These two communities have a large expat community and are quite close to ISL.
Hostert is not a bad location at all and some expats do live there yes.
Getting to school by bus from Hostert (if you do not plan on driving them each day) might be a little tricky but the school is really close to the city. I think they would take the bus into the Hamilius (main bus depot) and then switch on to another bus that brings them right near the school Hostert is not really that remote or isolated, but from my experience most expats do live in the Bertrange/Strassen/Belair area (west of the city).
