Colombia: ham radios:

Is anyone a ham radio operator? Do you know one? I'm trying to find the Colombian requirements to transfer my US license Colombia and get a new call sign.

Colombia: TP7 Pension Visa:

I am currently working with Alan Gongora with Langon Colombia S.A.S. Alan is very good and patiently answered all my "I know nothing..." Sgt. Schultz questions. Alan and Marta are very prompt and answered any and all questions I put to them. Mine was they most basic visa and cost between $450 and 500 (conversion, money transfer fees, etc. were the difference). They sent me an estimate which was within a few thousand COP (day of contract conversion amounts.) I'm very pleased with him/them and recommend them without qualifications. www.langoncolombia.com. P.S. they do have a US number you can call.

Colombia: MAY MOVE TO MEDELLIN:

From what my visa attorney has told me, getting the cedula is something you can do by yourself (assuming you know a little Spanish). It's basically going to the cedula office, telling them you need a cedula; going "next door" to the bank they work with; paying the fee and returning with the receipt; "thank you very much" Obviously not that simple but close. I speak fairly decent Spanish, and would not even think about doing the rest of your list without someone who's been there.

Colombia: Sabaneta out of control?:

Good. Maybe I'll be able to find an apartment when I arrive in June. I hope.....I hope.....I hope.....

Colombia: Dental implants:

A followup on VIsitando's question. Does anyone know if they do the full mouth (on the 4 screws) type for upper and lower replacements?

Colombia: Rain:

I was just noticing on a website that Colombia is starting a rainy season. It the rain heavy enough for an umbrella? How often does it rain? Does it last for an hour or so or does it rain all day. Yada,yada,yada.........

Colombia: Internet & Cell Phone Costs in Medellin:

Travelin Lady, If your Spanish skills aren't very good, you can try to pull up a second window and "google" a translator. It will ask you what language you want translated and to what language you want it translated. Then copy and paste what interests you and you'll get a pretty decent idea what it says. It may not be perfect so you may have to "translate" some of the translation.

Colombia: Tax Responsibilities as Retiree in Columbia?:

I live in Las Vegas and also plan on moving to Medellin. I read you statement about "double" taxes, but you said that your only income was Social Security. I went to H&R Block to file taxes and they told me that if Social Security was my only income (I assume you don't get a huge amount of interest on your savings), that I didn't even have to file taxes. As was said, you should talk to a tax person, but I don't think you need to pay any US taxes.

Colombia: Alan Gongora:

I'm working with Alan Gongora to get my TP-7 visa. I sent him my annual Benefits letter/statement from SSA. He said I needed an actual letter from SSA. If anyone has worked with Gongora in the past, can you tell me what you had to do RE you SSA documents? I know he's probably saying one thing and I'm hearing something else in my head, but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask And no, I'm not going to do it myself, it's simply a choice I made.

Colombia: LIVING THE DREAM:

Jaybee, that's one of the greatest intro to culture lessons I've ever seen. You nailed it. Congrats. Al
