Morocco: Tangiers : Long term furnished rental available soon:
HELLO, I'm in Atlanta and my husband is in Morocco. We may be settling in Tanger. I'm not familiar with that particular area you mention. I'm a retired nurse, my husband is Moroccan. I would be leaving for Morocco in June and interested in a minimum of one year. Michelle Foutouhi
Morocco: marriage:
Hi Rachid, You may try calling my husband who is in Morocco. He'll tell you exactly what the deal is in getting married and all the way through the process. I don't want to give the number on a published online link, so if you send me your email, i can send it to you there.
A 'mixed' marriage as they call it, in Morocco, is a pain where I sit down. It takes weeks to get through the process - I'm sure my husband will be happy to help you in any way that he can. Michelle
Morocco: American Woman Joining Husband in Morocco:
I've been to Morocco four times but this time it's a REAL move. My husband and I are thinking of settling in Meknes. If anyone could answer a few questions.
1. I thinking of shipping my car from the USA. Does anyone have a recommendation?
2. What is the best (least costly) way to ship my personal things like clothing, linens, etc. Can you recommend a company?
3. I have two cats. I'm aware of the documents I need to bring them into Morocco. Any advice?
4. Need a 1 preferably, or 2 bedroom apt. Is there any particular area where I may find some Americans?
5. Recommendation for hospitals and doctors.
I've been to Marjan so know all about that. I thought I read another large chain was opening in Morocco. Any specialty grocers that sell italian foods?
Thanks much
Morocco: Marriage to a Moroccan.:
My husband and I were married in Morocco. Be prepared for add'l costs besides what generic outlined - like all the hands that are outsttrecthed. Also be prepared to stay MINIMUM of 3 weeks. You will not finish this process any sooner unless you get lucky. And that requires you to wake up every morning early, get in the car and drive to the city where you need the next document stamped.
Morocco: Expats in Essaouira?:
Hello there, My Moroccan husband and I spent our honeymoon in that beautiful city two years ago. We didn't have time to investigate the rentals there, but certainly gave it some consideration. Do you have a view of the sea? Can you tell me what the rents are? Where are you from in the states? Gosh, there's so many Americans moving there - it's amazing
Morocco: new to casablanca:
Hi, You poor thing, you sound almost desperate!!!! I don't live in Morocco but I'm married to a moroccan and I go there every year. Yes, EVERYTHING is cooked in a pressure cooker because the meats are tough and it helps a lot to tender them up. I think they have an oven but you probably don't recognize it as such - they have to have it to make their bread everyday. It's not an oven like we have for sure. Listen, what I do there is treat the family to AMERICAN cooking. I made Lasagne, spaghetti, and other popular foods with Americans and it was a great hit. In fact, my husband actually gained weight while I was there. Everyone in his family was crazy for my cooking. I brought my own italian spices - you can probably can them at Marjane though. I'm sure you've found that superstore by now. Don't dispair - you'll pick up the language in time and Casa is a huge city and you probably have a lot more freedoms then the women who live in the little villages. My unconquerable problem is the freezing cold there. It nearly kills me. My husbands family is in the mid-atlas so i won't be anywhere near Casa only when I arrive. Feel free to contact me anytime. I know it can be lonely especially if your husband isn't there all the time to talk to you. I wish you the best. It just takes time. Michelle
Morocco: is Moroccan marriage valid in the UK?:
I am an American. We recognize marriages from abroad because you have to state if you have had other marriages, and if so, show your divorce papers. If you are going to marry in Morocco, I've been there and done that, and believe me it's not easy.
It took us 3 weeks straight of getting up every morning, going to cities all over Morocco to get the right papers. Sometimes sitting 8 hours waiting outside an office for someone who decided not to come to work that day. Have a pocketful of money. You will have to speak with the king's delegate who will ask you very personal questions. Give yourself 3 weeks if you're going to have good luck all the way, no holidays, working at it all day long. It's unbelieveable. Good luck
Morocco: moving back to Casa:
Hello, I am going to make an attempt to settle in Rabat - a stone's throw from Casa of course. I'm a semi-retired hospice nurse. A little scarey for me but trying! I all through Morocco twice last year for 4 months and it was wonderful. The country is mushrooming and many many euros there and more americans appear to be coming.
