Nicaragua: APOLOGY:

Don't bother to apologize to "Americans" who have responded rudely to u. I'm an American and have been reading the Costa Rica sight in the past but no longer due to the immature nasty exchanges on the sight the regulars direct toward each other and also insult regularly innocent inquirers such as yourself. These same posters ave also infected this Nicaragua sight. There are superior sights for both countries that do not tolerate the abuse u suffered. I'd list them here but wish to not enlighten the regulars here.

Costa Rica: Bashing Oldpro:

I'm new to this site. I gain much from reading most all your posts especially Oldpro for a refreshing different perspective. It is tiresome wading through the nastiness you sling his way. I don't know why he bothers to politely respond. It would be lovely, if the interpersonal mud - slinging several of you engage would do so privately directly to him, for my serenity, but, alas, I realize, in a group-therapy way, some of you support each other's hostility toward him by sharing your incredibly ugly inappropriate hostility for all to read. Seems some of you did not leave junior high emotionally or intellectually to have such visceral responses to him. Perhaps Oldpro should not bother with a site entitled 'expat' given his proclivity to avoid those who view themselves in these terms. I am glad he has chosen to write here so I may enjoy his views and take or leave what I like or don't.

Costa Rica: Expat Gatherings?:

Good-ness! Ive been reading CR posts on this site from time to time and am taken aback with the vitriol some of you dish Oldpro's way. Frankly, I've found most of his posts helpful and am taking some of his advice, yours Oldpro, BUT I do wonder why you frequent a site entitled "expats' considering your wish to move away from the mindset of those who view themselves in these terms. I am grateful you have chosen to do so. I appreciate your taking the time to attempt logic and rhetoric to respond to the heaps of negativity slung your way. However, I encourage you to ignore more of their hostility than u do: waste of breath, typing. Alas, I am pleased their ugliness has not stopped you from posting. Oh me-oh-my, those quiet, polite, unassuming Canadians. What a revalation to see behind the curtain how so many view USA citizens, country. You all are not alone;: so many globally are tickled-pink contemplating the fall of the USA.; take a ticket, stand in line behind the Islam Jihaddi radicals...and likely many more. I read the Filipino's are stretching their wings to show their not-so-nice thoughts toward the USA. Thank you all for all your posts. I learn from all of you, and think CR may be too well-done for me. Even though I've been hoping to visit and one day have a second home in CostaRica since the 80's, now that the time for me has arrived, I've missed-out on what was which I discovered 30 years ago. Iam searching for somewhere less baked with Canadians and Americans - who bring too much of their ways and prices with them. Wasn't the world so much nicer when there were only 2 billion humans on the planet as we zoom to 9 billion.

Costa Rica: Puerto Viejo questions:

Thank you for sharing insights from your extensive travels. Chili is added to my research !

Global Expat Forum: Where to Retire:

Oldpro: as always your input is rich in fact, very helpful. Versus the snarky comments I've been reading in answer to queries: "visit the country to figure out xyz ..,". Wouldn't it be nice if those who respond in such a way, did not bother. Their uppity comments put off those new to site who brave a question. Duh: we all know investigating everything ourself firsthand is the best,, optimal But then what is the point of this site. The snarky comments relay the mindset: we're here, made the effort, and til u do, don't bother us on this forum, I've learned much reading reading reading CR forum present and past. CR is no longer on my list for a home six months out of the year. I shall try to figure out how to contact Oldpro individually with my list so as not to bother those of you who are annoyed with research type questions from us who have not gone to said country as yet.
