Costa Rica: Private School Suggestions for Atenas and Grecia:
My wife and I are making our first reconnaissance trip next week, and we are visiting schools in Atenas and Grecia. I’ve been through MEP’s Buscador de Centros Educativos, and as many online links as I could find, as well Google maps and I just wanted to get any suggestions about others we might have missed. Also, if anyone has feedback on these schools, we’d love it before we go! We have a 5yo (going into Kindergarten next year if we were in the States) and a 14yo (going into 9th grade in the States):
Atenas:
Escuela Colina Azul (Elementary-only)
Kinder Arco Iris (Kindergarten-only)
Green Valley School
Colegio Bilingua San Rafael
Grecia:
Centro Formativo Nuevo Milenio
Jardin de Ninos Cri-Cri (Kindergarten-only)
Educational Center ABC
Centro Educativo Bilingüe Santa Josefina
Thanks!

Costa Rica: Makes of car that are easiest to repair?:
I'm planning on shipping a vehicle to Costa Rica later this year, and I've done the research on shipping, taxes, age of vehicle etc.
I've seen a couple of posts about purchasing Japanese/Asian vehicles due to their prevalence, and so I've been leaning towards Mitsubishi, however I have a couple of questions.
First, is there a decent population of Jeep's in Costa Rica, or would they be considered rare and more expensive to repair?
Second, are Mitsubishi's any better, or when I see talk about "Japanese cars" should I just assume Toyota and Honda?
As always, any feedback will be appreciated!

Costa Rica: car rental:
linlewhammond - Can you describe the "scam problems" by the airport a little more? I just booked my first reconnaissance trip to CR in the end of February and I was amazed at how cheap the car rentals were. It was like $8/day for a Toyota Corolla (or similar) from Budget at the airport. There were several other International agencies in about the same price range. We went with a small SUV for $20/day.
What should I be looking out for? I've already decided I'll be paying for all coverages, as I usually do in International travel, so that I have less risk of a hassle when I return. Any other tips?
Costa Rica: Establishing residency with children who have non-custodial parents saying in the US:
Hey everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone has personal experience establishing residency with children who you have primary custody, but who still have non-custodial parents in the United States?
My wife has two children from a previous marriage, one she has primary custody, the second she has joint custody. We're working on engaging an attorney in CR to handle our residency application, and we'll consult them about these questions, but as we vet them I'd like to understand anyone's personal experience with a similar situation.
Thanks!

Do you know if it's still for a couple if one member of the couple is under 45?
Costa Rica: Commuting/telecommuting to the US:
Hey everyone,
My wife and I are looking at both CR and Belize for a permanent move next summer, and I have a question on the Rentista visa.
I will be working from home 3 days a week, and commuting to Chicago 2 days a week (currently looking to be in Chicago from Wednesday night through Saturday morning).
The biggest question I have is does anyone have any personal experience in telecommuting and holding a Rentista visa? Does my salary suffice to meet the $2500/month threshold? I've seen conflicting information online, and I'll likely be engaging in the process soon so I will eventually get a definitive answer, but I'd love to get feedback from someone who has already gone through this.
Also, other than what looks like $25/exit, are there any other challenges to leaving an entering the country weekly, assuming the Retista visa.
Belize: Commuting to the US:
Good morning!
I've read through a lot of the posts to this forum, and I loved seeing the friendly, but firmly realistic, advice you're offering!
I'd love to get direct feedback from anyone that's living in Belize and commuting to work in US. I'm in a well compensated position that requires me to be in the office 2 days per week, and fully remote 3 days. My thought is that I could say fly out Sunday evening, be in the office (which is about 10 min. from O'Hare) Monday and Tuesday, and return home Tuesday evening.
Is there anyone here doing something similar? Does anyone have any advice off the top of their head even if they haven't tried this? Are there tax/visa implications with the Belizean government to earning outside wages while living in country?
Any help would be appreciated. I've looked a little at this type of arrangement in the US VI, but Belize would be attractive as a option if it's viable.
Thanks!
