Switzerland: Advice on schooling:

My husband is due to move to the Zurich/Lucerne area with work in a couple of months, with myself and our 2 children due to follow next summer. I would like advice on schools in either of these areas please. What are the local swiss schools like? I get the impression that they are very different to those in the English system? Our children will be 6 and 3 1/2 when we move and have been in formal schooling for 2 years and mornings nursery for a year respectively. Am I right in thinking that children don't start school until they are 7 and kindergarten/pre school at 5? We would like our children to learn Swiss German/German, but wonder if the International/Bilingual system be more appropriate, considering their ages? Does anyone have any advice please as we need to start making plans and I am stuggling with my internet searches as my German is very limited. Soon to be improved (I hope?) as I start German at night school next week!! Many thanks Melanie
