Belize: SOunds like you have to be rich to live as an ExPat??:

Year by year the situation is Belize is getting worse. Belize needs money from tourism but prices go up and less and less visitors. I am talking about last 5 years. Ferry cost from Chetumal to Caye Caulker now is 55 US and the boat does not go every day, every other day and sometimes they cancel it. That means they have not enough people to come. I have experienced problem at the border towards Corozal where they required a hotel reservation from me and because I did not have it, they refused me to enter the country. I had to go back to Mexico. They do not like a short time visitors. My daughter is married in Mexico and I was going to Belize for 3 days to get another visa and belizian immigration officers do not like it. They get their departure tax anyway, so they just do not like to see that you will not spend there much money for a few days. Another problem is that if you come with Mexican pesos you cannot exchange them at any bank. They not even explain to you why. Any time I came there ( 4 times) I met more beggers. Also if you go by bus from Mexico, you have to pay in pesos to the border and from Belizian border to Belize City in dollars. It used to be the way that you bought ticket in pesos and traveled all the way to BC.

Yes. US hegemony hits everybody. I am retired CZ citizen abroad and Bancomer asked the same from me. Desperate US government goes after foreginers also. Do they think that old foreigners have nothing to do but to offer US citizens abroad to use their accounts for their incomes? Incredible what the country of "freedom and human rights" is able to show, how far to go.

Economy sucks everywhere thanks to the USA hegemony. I am Europian and we suffer due to the wars of the USA we have to pay for. And I talk to my family in the USA, it is the same.
