Portugal: Entrepreneur Visa:
Are the rules different for a Brazilian citizen vs. a US citizen? $5,000 USD seems like a low threshold for an entrepreneur visa.
Portugal: Working Remotely as US Expat:
I am thinking of working remotely while in Portugal. Potentially I could start a small outsourcing business there providing auditing services to US companies. What is the level of available accounting/audit skills and resources in the Algarve region? Any specific restrictions on this type of business?
Portugal: Tips on 1st Trip to Evaluate Potential Move:
My wife and I are planning to visit Portugal for the 1st time to evaluate retirement there in 2017. We plan to visit Lisbon for New Years, and then travel to the Algarve area where we would like to move. Any advice on where to stay, what we should see, suggested realtors or others to show us around? Should we rent a car? All sincere sadvice is most appreciated.
Portugal: Health Insurance Cost:
My wife and I are considering retirement in Algarve and are concerned about the cost of health insurance. I am 62 and she is 53. Quick online searches indicate an approximate monthly cost of +1000USD for both of us. Does this sound reasonable? Will it be possible to get national health coverage once temporary residency is established? I estimate our monthly pension income will be about USD $3000 and cannot afford to spend one third on health insurance. Any insight is appreciated.
Portugal: Working as an independent contractor:
I am also interested in answers to these questions. If I act as an independent contractor paid in the US, what restrictions exist?
