Colombia: City Other Than Your Own:

Simple thread. Post the city you live in now and also one or two cities you would move to if the mood hit you. I live in Bucaramanga. If I were to move, I would go to Manizales or maybe Medellin. I like smaller places in general.

Colombia: Thinking of moving to Colombia:

Nope. Bucaramanga sucks. Don't come here.

Colombia: Cali Expats, I need your help!:

Someone give me the skinny on life in Cali. I have been taking salsa lessons for a few months here in Bucaramanga. But there's not a big scene for it here. Meanwhile, Cali is one big salsa scene. But this isn't the only reason I would consider a move. I want something different. Bucaramanga is nice and everything, but I am an adventurous spirit. I know it gets really hot in Cali, but I would be working all day in the AC and really only going out at night. Bucaramanga isn't the coolest place either. What is the crime situation really like in Cali? Have any of you expats had any problems or know anyone who has had problems? I am thinking about making Colombia my permanent home. I'm a young guy (27), single, no kids. Nothing is keeping me in Bucaramanga. I think it might be a disservice to myself if I stayed here without knowing at least one other city. Or if you want to talk me out of it and tell me to stay here or go to another city, feel free to do that as well. I am willing to listen to all possibilities.

Colombia: Bucaramanga:

I have been living in Bucaramanga for about a year now. What do you want to know? Specific questions yield specific answers. :)

Colombia: cali is a happening town:

I didn't like Cali when I was first exploring Colombia a few years ago. I found it too hot, too disorganized, and too slummy in most areas. I might have to take another trip back now that I've been living in Colombia for a while.

Colombia: Budget:

I would hope so. I make 2.4 million a month as an English teacher, and I don't hurt for anything. I don't live in Cali, but still. I am single with no wife/girlfriend/kids though.

Colombia: US restrictions begin on Colombian visas:

I think we should have one big political thread where we can shoot the crap about Trump and whatever else that's going on. Anyway, I am an English teacher at a private language school. Many of my students are looking to travel abroad to study and/or work. Before the election many of them were asking me where they should go in the U.S. Now I get more questions about Canada and Australia. Take it for what it's worth. This has had a mental/emotional impact regardless of any legal impact or lack thereof.

Colombia: Comparison of crime rates:

Stats never tell the whole story. Never believe a crime rate on paper. No matter where you are in the world, having basic awareness and street smarts drastically reduces your chances of being a victim of a crime. I am sure that you know how to be safe. You are also not a new expat, and your fluent Spanish will serve you well. Obviously there are no guarantees, but I am quite confident that you will be just fine.

Colombia: TEFL/TESOL in Medellin:

With a bachelor's degree and experience, you shouldn't have any problems. But I have to ask: when you say a respectable job, what do you mean?

Colombia: Barranquilla:

Alaska to Barranquilla... I hope you know what you're in for.
