Dominican Republic: Las Terrenas:

Hi everyone, my name is Beth. My cousin and I are moving to the North coast in June, 2017. We were thinking Cabrera, but now were considering Las Terrenas. We will be looking to purchase property eventually, but upon arrival we would like to rent for 2 or 3 months. Could someone please direct me to an agent who could help us find a short term rental in Las Terrenas? Also does anyone know if there is a need for an xpat hairdresser there? I'm looking to work a bit. Are there places in Las Terrenas where we could buy a car? Thanks!!!

Dominican Republic: relocating:

Hi everyone, I am confused about not becoming a resident right away. I will be moving to Cabrera sometime in 2017. Will I have access to a bank? Will I be able to buy a car and get car insurance? Is it ok to tell customs at the airport upon arrival that I'm moving there without residency? My cousin Brenda is moving with me along with my 2 dogs.

I will be moving to the North Coast in about a year. Ive been to Cabrera and liked it a lot, but its seems a little too "sleepy" to me. The Sosua area seems less sleepy. Is that the case? Also is there a fairly large expat community? I'm a hairdresser and plan on doing hair. Is there a need for an expat hairdresser?
