Bermuda: Safety on the Island:

Hi everyone. I am a female professional newly moved to the island. One thing that's creeping me out is how dark and empty some streets are after sunset. I've been trying to look for an apartment, but at this point every one I've seen at least has a portion of the road leading to the place badly lit. This will be an issue because I might need to work late. Is this the new norm I should be adjusting to. I've moved to new cities before but honestly I've never been so scared. Your insights are greatly appreciated!
