Oman: Any Canadians working in Oma as Canadian Residents and paying Canadian Income Tax??:
Hello,
I'm thinking about a move to Oman in September. However, as a result of the fact that we will still be considered "residents" of Canada (believe me I've done the research.)
I'm wondering if if there are any Canadians who are living in Oman and paying Canadian tax and what kind of money you need to be making to do this?
The tax rate I'm looking at is likely about 21%
Thanks for any help. :)

Saudi Arabia: Expat Life in Saudi???:
I am wondering ifI should consider applying to teach at an International school in Saudi...initially I thought it would be awful for me as a woman and for my children but then I've read on the boards that it's a good life there...
The schools we're looking at to apply to are International Schools Group or Saudi Armaco schools and the packages just look so good!
What is it like? Can you leave the compound? Are the travel opportunities good? How oppressive is it for women to go out in public??
Thanks so much! I'm going to post this on the Dubai forum as well. :)

Malaysia: Teaching in Malaysia...KL?:
Hello...
I am looking at applying for jobs at the International Schools in and around Kuala Lumpur: specifically, International School of Kuala Lumpur.
My question is this - what is it like to live in Kuala Lumpur? I have been warned (by people who have not lived there of course) that it is a dirty polluted city. Is this the case? I have small children.
Is there a difference between living in central Kuala Lumpur and outside the city?
Any insigt on the schools, or the city or living in KL in general would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Beth
United Arab Emirates: Teaching in UAE - which schools?:
Hello,
I'm looking for anyone who is using this forum and teaching in Abu Dhabi or Dubai...my family are thinking of moving there for September 2008 and we are currently looking at applying to schools.
There are SO MANY and they get such mixed reviews - it's hard to know what to believe.
If you are teaching at a school, I'd really appreciate some input as to your opinions of the school.
Thanks so much!

Is there a difference between living in central Manilla and outside the city?
One of the schools I am very interested in is located in Subic Bay.

Oman: Prospects for a drama teacher.:
Hello...
I'm in a similar situation. Here's what I would do first if I were you. Go to www.joyjobs.com and pay the 15 pounds or whatever it is to join. It's been a godsend to me. Then go to www.internationalschoolsreview.com and do the same. They have reviews by teachers of what school to teach at and what schools to avoid. I would have been snowed by some of the beautiful web pages if I hadn't read what I did on that page.
Both of those will also give you an idea of what schools are out there. There's also the TES of course which has jobs every week.
If you're in the UK, there are some major job fairs in London each year. Try a google search of SEARCH Associates, ECIS and ISS recruiting fairs.
From what I hear, specialists like Drama and Music are in demand in some places.
Good luck!! Maybe we'll end up teaching together! We're planning to apply to he American School of Muscat.
Cheers,
Beth :)
Oman: ReLocation to Muscat:
Hiya,
I'm Canadian too and wonder if you could help me out...looking for an overview of what it's like to live in Oman. Is it a strict Muslim situation? We're not big partiers (2 kids) but Hubby does enjoy his Stella at the weekends. :)
Is Muscat a good place to live with Kids?
Please feel free to email me at bethnywening@hotmail.com if you have any info!
Thanks in advance,
Beth :)
