Panama: Banking fiasco:

I'm having a really tough time with money transfer. My specific example... 2 1/2 weeks ago I went to my bank in USA, filed for an international wire transfer of $8000 from that bank to my bank (Scotiabank) here in Boquete..... I still have not received the funds here. After several emails, it seems I am dealing with for different banks, my credit union, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Scotia. I have been asked questions such as "what are you going to do with the money?" I'm now being told the funds are hung up with Bank Of America. I'd like to establish a "new" bank account in USA that does not go thru all of this rigmarole. Suggestions?

Panama: Looking for a cook:

Recently retired in the U.S., now located in Boquete. One thing my wife don't care to do is cook our main meals. I am thinking if I could hire a cook to fix our main meal 3 times a week, preparing enough for 2 meals ( 4 person serving), I'd be set. It's not a requirement that the food is prepared in my home. Any recommendations? What should this cost me for those that know?
