Spain: Immigration advantages for Mexican citizens:

Hello all, I am a dual national with both U.S. and Mexican citizenship. I have heard that citizens of nations with Spanish colonial ties are offered advantages in terms of immigration to Spain. Does anyone have additional details? Thanks in advance.

Mexico: Effects of policies of new administration on lives of expats living in Mexico?:

You, Denise, fired the opening round and set the tone. Now you are acting all but hurt. Give it a rest.

Mexico: Forum gone dark?:

No posts in eight days. What is up?

Spain: Travel Health Insurance:

We will be making our first trip to Spain, Barcelona specifically, and wonder if anyone can recommend health insurance for a ten day trip. Thank you.

Spain: Appropriate dress in Barcelona:

My husband and I are visiting Barcelona in June. Any suggestions about appropriate dress in various situations are very much appreciated. The U.S. city we live in is very casual and we don't want to come across a rubes or give offense. I am mid-sixties. My husband is mid-forties.

United Kingdom: Social Work jobs in the U.K:

Is anyone using this forum familiar with the employment prospects in Social Work for U.S. citizen u.S. trained MSW specializing in mental health? Many thanks.

United Kingdom: Male couple considering move to UK:

We are a well educated couple ages 67 and 44. I am the older and eligible for retirement but still working. My anticipated retirement income, between pension and Social Security is around 80K USD. I am a PhD level professor and may have a few more years of work in me but am basically ready to sit back a relax. My husband has a Master's In Social Work and has attained licensure in California, the most rigorous licensure in the US.. The accreditation standard for social work education are common to the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Therefore, my husband should be work-ready and it is my understanding that there is a shortage of trained social workers in the UK. Any comments on the feasibility of this plan, along with any suggestions will be most welcome.

Mexico: Medical care over 65:

We are a same sex couple, together eighteen years, who are looking to live outside the U.S. for at least four years. Actual immigration is a possibility. I was born in Mexico and hold an expired Mexican passport from my childhood. I am now of retirement age and expect a retirement income of over 80K. We are thinking about Puerto Vallarta. However, although our combined incomes should be ample for living in Mexico, It would not cover a major health crisis. My husband is in his forties and could probably buy health insurance. It is my understanding that it would not be avaliable to me. Should this issue cross Mexico off our list?

Spain: Visa necessary for short stay?:

My spouse and I are planning on visiting Barcelona for a bit over week in June. We have U.S. Passports. Do we need any kind of pre-approval? We are considering emmigration or long-term stay. I am still working but of retirement age with an expected retirement income of at least 80K per year. My husband is in his mid-forties with military disability income of around 35K per year. In addition, he has a master;s degree in social work. Does this sound feasible in a smaller city?

Mexico: Safe Small, Somewhat ArtsyTown?:

You might consider Cholula. It is about ten miles outside of Puebla. When we were last there in 2000 it had a population of 30,000. It also houses University of the Americas, the most expensive college south of the U.S. Border. This university is attended by the children of the wealthiest and most powerful in Latin America along with Europeans. When we were there the police presence was impressive. I was also told that the university has plain clothed security patrolling the town and nightspost. It was crawling with college aged young adults at all hours. It has a nice small-town feel yet is within minutes of Puebla and about an hour from Mexico City by luxury bus.
