Nicaragua: Expat Happy Hours:

Hi All, My husband & I will be in Nicaragua tomorrow evening through Sunday the 12th. We've heard about expat happy hours but cannot find me think of them now but would like to go to one or a few while in Nica. We'll be bouncing around a bit - Managua the 4th, Matagalpa the 5th, Esteli the 6th, Granada 7th-11th. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Nicaragua: Clothing suggestions:

My husband & I are flying to Nicaragua next week & don't want to stand out any more than 2 mid-30's gringos would anyway. What do folks wear in Nica?

Nicaragua: Working remotely:

We are thinking about moving to Granada & our plan is to work for a US company remotely. Does anyone else do this, could recommend any companies, have any cautionary tales, or have inside info we may not find searching online?

Nicaragua: Renting a car:

We will be visiting Nica & are wondering if there are any concerns or limitations since we are US citizens & only have US drivers licenses.

Nicaragua: Visiting Nica in Feb.:

Hi All! We are considering moving to Nicaragua and are visiting in February to see if it's a good fit for us. We have done a lot of research and were drawn to Granada but feel it might be a bit big and touristy for us and hoping to get some suggestions of cities to check out. We don't have children so no needs or concerns regarding children. Our biggest concern anywhere we live is safety which probably translates to a small to medium city or suburban area with little tourist traffic and hopefully some expats as well. If we make the move we are hoping to keep costs low (rent for a 2 or 3 bedroom house or apartment around $800/month - less would be great). We would also be working remotely so we would need stable internet connection. Long term we are planning on possibly purchasing property as an investment. Another goal we hope to achieve is to contribute to the community in some way through charity work, whether that means working directly or indirectly with low income Nicaragua native folks. One last thing, we currently live in Colorado and love the mountain terrain but would also love living near the beach, we're open to anything. The only preference we have regarding climate is maybe an area that doesn't have the most critters and bugs in the country and highest humidity. We know we can't avoid all together though. Any suggestions?

Nicaragua: Immunizations:

My husband & I are visiting Nicaragua in February & have seen some articles suggesting getting shots for Hepatitis A & B & typhoid. Is that necessary?

Nicaragua: Granada Internet service:

Hi All! I'm planning on working remotely upon moving to Nicaragua, how is the Internet service in Granada?

Nicaragua: Drive through Mexico?:

My husband & I are planning on moving to Nica shortly & am torn between driving from the states (in order to bring my vehicle, cat, & some stuff all in one swoop). I've never driven through Mexico before & the research I've done shows many people run into trouble with fake police, cartels, poor roads, & other scary things. On the other hand I've also seen many great stories of doing the very same. I'm guessing the difference between the 2 is the path they took, their behavior, & preparedness. My question is, has anyone made this trip from the States to Nicaragua? If so, what was your route? Do you have any tips of do's & don'ts? Any resources you would recommend we tap? Any information is appreciated!

Nicaragua: Residency:

My husband & I are planning to move to Nicaragua asap. We have done tons of research but cannot find where we file our residency paperwork. Is that done in the U.S., online, or do we have to wait until we are physically in Nicaragua? Thank you for your help :-)
