India: Trying to get a toaster oven that is 110 volt to work in a 220 volt country:

Hello, I recently bought Breville Toaster Oven that is 110 voltage. I had moved to India a few months ago and brought this with me in hopes of using it here. I tried to use this with an adapter and immediately I heard a pop and I think it short circuited. Is there any recommendations of using this here? Some have said a transformer but the the appliance uses 1800 watts and not sure if the transformer will do it. Thanks for any help in advance!
