Colombia: Problems at Customs with a Return Flight Booked Over 90 Days?:
Dear Forum,
Will I encounter difficulties with the Aduana if the return leg of my flight is booked beyond the 90-day tourist stamp? Can I book a 6-month round trip flight and expect to pass through customs hassle-free? I'm a US citizen (obviously allowed 180 days/yr on a tourist visa).
The aim of my trip is to find a full-time job that will sponsor me for a resident visa.
Best,

Colombia: Does Colombia tax VA Compensation Benefits?:
Dear Forum,
As we've all read, there's lots of discussion of Colombia's taxing of international income on this forum, and thankfully so. Does anybody know if Colombia taxes U.S. Dep't of Veterans Affairs disability compensation? It's not taxed in the States, but that means nothing elsewhere.

Colombia: Comparison of crime rates:
Dear gringo2u,
From my personal experience, I found Ecuador far more sketchy than Colombia. I met a Dutch physician who got stabbed in the arm in Cuenca, and in Quito I was unnecessarily harassed by the police, had a wasted druggie pathetically try to pick my pocket (he got nothing), and a dude at the hostel where I was staying in San Blas was robbed at gunpoint at 7:00 am by two teenagers on a dirt bike. All of this occurred within a four week span.
I've never been to Armenia, but nothing outside of the ordinary ever happened to me or around me in six weeks between Cali and Medellin last summer.
I did a semester abroad in Bs. As., and have traveled extensively through Brasil and Uruguay, so I feel like "I get it" when it comes to Latin America and street smarts.
I currently live in south Florida where insane people shoot up the airport, and unarmed black dudes regularly get murdered for the crime of being a black dude. People say Colombia is dangerous?!? Get real.
All best,

Colombia: TEFL/TESOL in Medellin:
Dear Forum,
I'm less than six months away from realizing my lifelong dream of becoming an English teacher in South America. I've traveled extensively across the continent, and have settled upon Medellin (although I also really like Cali because I find the people slightly more approachable).
So, her's my question: I have a degree in English and 2 1/2 years of direct teaching experience in the States. I'm not TEFL/TESOL certified, but I did take TESOL as an undergraduate elective. Do I need this certificate to land a respectable job in Medellin? Should I rush myself through a TEFL program before JetBlue takes me to MDE on 05/28/2017?
All the Best,
